Lowest round record is still the dreaded 'nil points' set by the following during 2002-2004:

0 Hitomi Yuki @ Real Bout High School
0 Luchs @ Saber Marionette
0 Sumi Ichijouji @ Raimuiro Senkitan
0 Kanae Mizuhara @ Platonic Chain
0 Michiru Kawamoto @ Air Master
0 Shion @ Asobotto Senki Goku
0 Yayoi Kuribayashi @ Mouse
0 Mao Chou @ Beyblade
0 Laura Hope @ Firestorm
0 Hiromi Tachibana @ Beyblade
0 Ruth Miller @ Firestorm

So a "Happy Birthday" for one and a stop of the "Terut ime" for another Madoka

Well. Group D will NOT have a Saki character as a winner.

While I like Lagrange's Madoka, I'm honestly surprised by Teru's lost. Teru struck me as one of the stronger Saki girls, so I was inclined to think she'd advance. Now it'll be interesting to see if Madoka's strength is for real, or if she was amped up by voters sniping Teru.

Madoka and Teru are same strength anyway. Both finished 4th in their respective prelim group (Group 4 and 8), both groups are fairly weak (Teru's group is weaker since it's Poplar than the 2nd-4th group, while Madoka's group = Ako-Kyouko -> 3rd-6th bunch). Seeing Saki isn't exactly dominating even with the sheer number of girls, the loss doesn't surprised me at all.

I don't know whether she's the weakest or not. But Makoto qualified via 2nd prelim while Karuta finished 6th in 1st prelim (Votes wise, about same strength as Hajime, Sakurako, and Hachikuji). Yet here we have another upset...

On the other hand, maybe Hanazawa girls just suck against Idolm@ster for whatever reason...

Let's be fair here - You yourself predicted Teru to win, and you weren't the only one on this thread to do so.

I do think it's a bit surprising that Teru wasn't boosted more from Saki Achiga-hen.

Teru's one of the few Saki chars I don't mind losing. Never really liked her too much. For example, Hajime has so much more appeal.

Picks: Hinata, Nagi, Touka
Predictions: Hinata, Nagi, Touka

Hajime won but it's not a particularly convincing win against a not particularly strong opponent. Madoka claims a majority of the vote so Teru can't fault split votes. Karuta fails to beat Makoto which is a bit surprising. However, she didn't beat Ganaha Hibiki by much in preliminaries so maybe it shouldn't have been that surprising.

For today's matches, Hakamada Hinata should be a solid choice for the first match. Neither of her opponents seem very strong. Sanzen'in Nagi also has fairly weak opposition so she should win as well. Touka and Saber are going to have to work to advance, though. With how Saki characters have done recently, I'm going to have to go with Saber taking this one. I would have went with Touka a few days ago. After looking at the poll tracker, maybe I should have sided with Touka instead.

Votes:
Hakamada Hinata
Sanzen'in Nagi
Ryuumonbuchi Touka

Predictions:
Hakamada Hinata
Sanzen'in Nagi
Saber

Teru seems to be around the other likeable but not super popular Saki characters in terms of strength. It's a pretty rough estimate but that seems about right for what she's done so far in the anime.

I also did mention that her and Madoka are about the same strength. In another word, I put it as a toss-up b/t Madoka and Teru, and more or less just give Teru the edge b/c of Saki (non-existent) faction voting...

And you know that half of the time my picks are completely wrong

iM@S seems to have a knack for improbable wins. Honestly, at this point, I'd bet iM@S gets at least 1 in the final 8. Hell, I'm almost willing to bet Iori to win it all.

Idolm@ster's improbable wins are probably caused by fans showing up late to the party, since they were expected to do well before the tournament.

There's nothing moe about Teru IMO. I don't see why people are surprised she lost.

I think the Idolmaster fans were informed late and only joined the party when the tournament started. I guess being fashionably late is the new thing nowadays.

I had a gut feeling Teru would lose anyway. I guess the factor of moe is considered sometimes.

It's obvious Nagi would won since she was runner-up twice. First was Louise and now Nagi, next is Taiga.

Finally one of the Ro-Kyu-Bu girls moved on to the second round. I thought Hinata would have the best chance since I consider her to be the most moe of all the Ro-Kyu-Bu girls.

I think Saber won because of her popularity, she was hardly moe in my opinion.

No, she won b/c her competition is not strong at all (I mean, compare Saber to let say, Ryuumonbuchi Touka, I'll take Saber all day...). And even then, she didn't really win by THAT much (At least compare to Hinata and Nagi)

On a side note, a 3-0 day finally (Total 29-19) before the 2nd break...

Poor Touka... She haven't won even once in her three-year Saimoe experience.

Why do Saki's non-ace characters tend to lose despite having higher rank in the prelims? Is it because of anti-Saki voters, or they just simply got overrated in the prelims (because of combo vote with stronger characters)?
