Deidara can obliterate any village, there is nothing what can stop him.

No, not any long-range ninja can defeat him. Gaara was like that - and he lost! The MS is just about the only thing which caused trouble for Deidara. Most technique can be used to their disadvantage, the hand mouths can eat stuff and sneak explosive anywhere. Gama Bunta would regret to get in a fight with Deidara, this is a fat toad while Deidei is a fast bird always moving and deliver high-powered explosive to Gama Bunta's face. It would be over very quickly. And he is not an open target. Have you noticed anyone else fighting Deidara when he attacked the Sand? It was just Gaara, everyone else could do nothing but watch and pray their Kage will win. In effect the village was the open target in this situation, not Deidei.
