Right away, to turn the pepper into money, Lawrence visits Ratpearon Company.
Helped by the fact that the demand for pepper has been increasing, the price negotiations with the master advances favorably.
But when the calculations for the pepper was about to start, Horo, who had been silent all along, says that she is thirsty.
So Lawrence hands her a cup of water.
Lawrence had trouble figuring out the meaning of her sudden outburst, but the intentions were...?

Didn't something happen similar to this in episode 3?

Can it be? An anime-original dvd-only filler fanservice episode? It can! And this justifies me blowing a stupid amount of money on importing the DVDs somehow, I think. :l

so until the dvd with ep7 on it, we wont see that ep till then? this sucks, we only get to have 12or13 eps of this now were down 1 less!

btw, as for ep8 what volume of the novel is this from? are we still on the 1st one or they've move on to the next?

edit: to add, were there anyreasons given why ep 7 is gonna be skipped?

Last night, I watched episode 2 again. I'd forgotten that Lawrence said he'd been attacked by wolves 7 times during his travels; that in the flashback we saw, Lawrence see his companion eaten by a wolf pack; that he is still very traumatized by the memories.

Watching episode 2 again really helped me understand his total abject fear of wolf-form!Horo. His memories of the previous wolf pack attacks are so painful for him. It's no wonder he collapsed in terror at the sight of her.

You'll still get EP 7 as soon as the DVD is released. That might be a while, months actually, but at least you'll have something to look forward to instead of a bleak existence without Spice and Wolf until some genius in Japan notices it was awesome and asks for a second season.

I'm guessing (okay, not really guessing, but you know) that EP 7-12 are all part of the second novel. There's seven novels out now. Seven! WE NEED MORE SEASONS.

No reason was given why EP 7 is being skipped, but I think there's two of them:

1. It's an anime-original episode and may not have been written very well.
2. They may want to boost DVD sales and thus they put a special episode on one of the DVDs, prompting people to buy them to watch it.

That's all I've got, cap'n.

Yeah I'd assume that episode 7 is something anime original. Doubt they would actually take something important to the plot out of the series and put it only on the DVD. Will just have to wait and see what that one turns out to be.

Really is too bad this series will be so short. With so many novels out there this show demands more.

Yeah even if Lawrence knows its Horo and he's safe the memories are still traumatic. Kind of difficult to put rational thinking over a deep situated fear. At least he was able to call out after her when she started to head out.

or is there any novel that's translated to english out there?

to me the anime is still kinda too fast.
but surely sometimes people finds it boring to watch if it is in slower pace

In this episode, the letter at the end drew my attention. On the back it says "Eine Rechnung". That's german for "a bill". It seems the anime is set in some sort of feudal Germany.

It's not really set anywhere in the real world.

None of the novels out are in English. No one's even liscensed Spice and Wolf in America. The novels, the manga, the anime, nothing. It may never come Stateside. I wouldn't mind. Baka-Tsuki is working on translating the novels for fun and "learning purposes". Moob-manga is doing the manga. Google.

I bought the only Horo-related tshirt available on HLJ.com, so I'm just as hopeless as you are, lol. I just have standards. That figure doesn't meet them. Perhaps I'll cave and get it sooner or later, but right now I'm being very tsun-tsun towards it. As for the OST, I've only heard as much of it as you have through the anime. I have it preordered from CDJapan though, and the ED and OP are in the mail and coming in my direction (hopefully).
