Looks like the stakes are trying to pull Battler into the portrait...which would require some creative animating for the title shot.

Well, I always thought Battler's face would work for the final shot. Not sure about the first 2 shots, though.

I dunno if giving Ange a portrait would really make sense... I mean, they do call her ANGE-Beatrice and all, but she plays such a vastly different role from Beato and EVA-Beatrice...

That's true, but I'm trying to keep it even on the aspect that I only know about the plots of episodes 1-3 in Umineko in which Battler is the main character of all three. Keiichi was also the main character of the first 3 chapters of Higurashi.

I have no idea if there will be a new main character for Ep. 4 or beyond that, but with Ange's appearance I'm starting to believe she'll be Episode 4's protagonist.

well, if you ignore teh metaworld as if it did not exist (like in higurashi) batler is hardly a main character.

Well that's the whole thing. In the VN she was creepy and freaky without the facial distortions. Anime uses her facial distortions so much that she becomes less creepy and more silly.

I was thinking: If Nanjo tried to kill Jessica, and Jessica acted out of self -defense, would it means she's not the murderer of Nanjo?
New theory of "Jesica- the final culprit, manipulating Nanjo and Kanon to carry her order...." in the making ^^

I could imagine that portrait working for the opening sequence. With actual Battler from the anime getting pulled into a living portrait. Though they might have to redo the whole opening sequence to pull that off.

... Or not.
