Light novelists don't use acknowledgements?

I noticed that Japanese authors rarely write acknowledgements like "To my parents" or "For (coworkers' name)" on their works.
Is this a cultural thing? Or I mind too much?

Its not even common anymore on works written in English (with our decay of etiquette and civility in general). I do sometimes see a post note where Japanese authors thank their fans or publisher.

If there's anything cultural at all, its probably that they don't get much support from friends or family because writing isn't a "practical" pursuit. But that holds fairly true in many cultures.

They right those in the afterwords usually(atogaki in the japanese) and most of them is thanking fans instead of family.

Not to be a nag, but that above is a dedication. Acknowledgements are a list of pretty much everyone who contributed to the work (research, QC, etc) and need proper recognition.
