i hope shinpaku goes with ryuzanpaku. i'm hoping to see kenichi meeting with shou's master, hongou akira and he ends up fighting sakaki. that would be a really good fight, sakaki using his brawling karate against hongou's traditional karate. i wonder what kind of relationship they have with each other, and how they got the scars on their faces. they're probably fellow disciples of the same master.

I asked that question because I wasn't sure if the story is set in the early 2000's or in more recent times. I believe I saw somewhere that it was set in 2002 (or 2003 as time passes), but I'm not sure.

Hell yeah , God Hand (Akira Hongo yes^^ ) vs Sakaki ! I think too that they got the same master .

Finally got to read the current chapter.

Spoiler for 381:

I really enjoy those mechanisms Akisame comes up with to train Kenichi, though the current machine looks like it belongs to a torture museum. Of all people, I was suprised that it was Shigure that set that thing at full power and claiming that it was a "whip of love." Really like the concept of Nijima having a web group and just gathered alot of info on YAMI. It looks like the current arc is going to involve the Muay Thai master as the gang is heading off to Okinawa, though Kenichi's face at the end of the chapter says it all. All so, what are the chances that Chikage and her master might be there too?

Lol, very true. Anyway, I can not wait for the next chapter. I am hoping that there is more than just the Mauy Thai YAMI master station at that area. Maybe Jizard or Mikumo so we can see how the Elder reacts.

Didn't know Shigure was in SM. In this case Shigure is the S, Kenichi is the M (unwillingly).

Course we know she loves him even if he doesn't realize it.

Is it taboo for a Master and Disciple to have a relationship?

Thats because Shigure asked him too call her Shigure instead of Master! I cant remember which chapter but it did happen.

It's bikini time!!! I think Shigure might show she has some interest in Kenichi in the next couple of chapters. If Shigure wears a very revealing bikini instead of her usual wraps, then she actively going after Kenichi. Miu better step up her game if this happens.

In the old, traditonal, medieval days of martial arts... yeah.

If I'm not mistaken, there's that whole filial piety thing in Confucianism that also applies to master/student in a similar way to that of parent/child; and thus, master and student relationships of the romantic sort are considered as a social taboo.

Not sure about Japan in particular back in those days, but such influence must've been prevalent throughout East Asia.

(Then again, maybe that's just Legend of the Condor Heroes...)

Of course, the world is different now and the characters aren't bound by such rules. Shigure can jump Kenichi's bones any time she wants, I say.

I think the only reason why Yang Guo and Dragon Girl could have a relationship is because their ages weren't that far apart. Normally most Master-student relationships have a larger age gap, but not with Shigure.
