I can partly answer that from information on the Japanese wiki on Yamato 2199. Details are in the specific ship's wiki pages.

Spoiler for Carriers:

The Green carrier is destroyed by Yamato's fighter squadrons at some point earlier in the battle.

The Red Battle Carrier still gets killed by the drill missile.

The Blue carrier I think might have been taken out by debris from the exploding Red Battle Carrier. That or Yamato was able to get a clear shot on it.

The Purple carrier is taken out by Yamato while the carrier is evading debris from the Red Battle Carrier.

The Blue and Purple carriers were hiding behind Dommel's fleet battleship so Yamato couldn't fire on them, while the battleship and battle carrier fired on Yamato.

Dommel's ship and Yamato then had a one on one duel with Okita finally getting the upper hand by using the terran to his advantage. It seems the Rainbow Cluster is rather dangerous with ion storms or something. Dommel's ship is destroyed save for the detachable bridge section. One assumes he self destructs (like before), but the wiki doesn't go into details about that at present. It does not say he does so against Yamato's hull either. It is assumed he tried the same thing, but the "third bridge" survives...mostly.

Ferrus, here's what REALLY happened at the Battle of the Rainbow Cluster...

Spoiler for The Fate of the Domel's Carrier Fleet:

During the first skirmish between the initial wave of Garmillas fighters (acting as decoys) and Cosmo Falcons, young CF pilot, Kobayashi, is upset for being chided by his senior wingman, Sawamura, as the Balgrey (Green Carrier) comes through gas cloud. The Rookie suddenly banks for an attack run, despite protests from Sawamura. Under heavy AA fire, Kobayashi launches two torpedoes, but his plane his and spins out of control in flames. But, the torpedoes score direct hits below decks, causing massive damage. Enraged, Sawamura launches his own torpedoes, and then strafes the carrier's bridge with his guns, killing the everyone. Sawamura's torpedoes enter through the open front below decks and impact on the aft between decks, just as he flies past the wounded ship — and the carrier explodes apart as it sinks into the gas clouds. It's a beautifully orchestrated scene.

When the weaponized Asteroid Mining Drill is expelled from the Yamato, Okita orders Nambu to track it's axis as it approaches the carrier fleet, and to hit it with one barrel of the Shock Cannon. As the Red Carrier tries to make a evasive maneuver, Nambu fires and scores a direct hit ('natch) exploding the drill, the explosion of which engulfs the Red Carrier, causing it to erupt into an even bigger conflagration. While the Dreadnaught and the two remaining carriers take evasive, the Schderg (Green Carrier) is too close, and is enveloped into the gigantic fireball, vaporizing in a fiery holocaust.

Suffering some minor damage from the explosions, the Purple Carrier tries to regain helm, and is felled by two careening blows from the Yamato's Shock Cannons. Going down in flames, the Carrier sinks into the gas clouds below with Berger exclaiming, "I refuse to let it end this way!"

Loosing his composure, Domel orders and all-out attack against the Yamato, and an exchange of fire occurs not unlike mighty sailing ships of yore. Okita unleashes and concentrates all weapons at the Domelaze III, causing severe damage. But, the Captain has also led Domel's ship into a stream of ion turbulence that renders the helm unresponsive — while the Yamato keeps pounding her with volley after volley. As the ship reaches a critical point, Domel sets the self-destuct and orders the crew to abandon ship. No one leaves the bridge. The saucer separates as the rest of the Domelaze III sinks into a gas cloud and explodes.

The saucer follows the Yamato and attaches itself to the Third Bridge, nearly identical to the original version, and has his exchange with Okita... Meanwhile, Sanada, the Boatswain, and several other technical staff officers, are trying to repair the inertial control and wave motion shield from inside the Third Bridge. When Domel goes for the trigger, Okita warns crewmen below decks to prepare for Domel's self destruct ("Get out of there!"). The saucer convulses in a giant yellow fireball. But, the Third Bridge, and the undercarriage of the Yamato, are spared major damage because of the last-minute activation of the Wave Motion Shields.

No, Episode 20 starts with the regular credits, but goes right into the action!

The new version of the Rainbow Cluster is a system of multiple collapsing stars — each emanating different spectrums of light — hence the Rainbow Cluster, filled with interstellar medium, which cause severe, swirling streams gas clouds and powerful forces of ion turbulence. It's as if they took aspects of the Octopus Star Storm and incorporated them into the Rainbow Cluster. And the results are both fantastic, daringly different, and absolutely beautiful.

The two guys "watching" Melda, are part of the group resisting Desler — which includes the Dietz, Eliza, and many others.

Security Officer Ito is shot and dies in Yurisha's arms in Episode 21. But you have to see the scene to see what an amazing job Izubuchi and the writers did with his death... wow.

The meeting between Admiral Dietz, Melda, and Eliza, and the Staff Officers of the Yamato happens in a flashback montage, narrated by Okita, at the top of Episode 22, not 21. It happens on the Prison Planet. While they come to an understanding, their past history will not let them join forces to fight against Desler. Melda stays aboard the Yamato as a liaison.

After liberating the Prison, both ships go their own way (Dietz and Eliza go off to liberate the other Prison Planets), little realizing that Yabu has been left to his own devices among the liberated prisoners, who have accepted him as their comrade. Maybe, he will find some purpose now?

Yurisha was already aware of Sasha's death (being inside Yuria's head so long). She and Okita have a conversation about the ethics of perverting the Wave Motion technology into a weapon. The only big revelation is that she's the one who tells Kodai that Iscandar and Garmillas are binary planets. But, there are some funny scenes aboard the Yamato with her, Melda, and Yamamoto.

Meanwhile, Hilde Shultz is serving as the personal maid of Cerestella.

Don't get me wrong, as I've already said I don't have a problem with it in this thread and I'm not coming down on anyone or trying to stop anyone. There is no detour; the Yamato needs to stop there to resupply. And yes, it is in Episode 21, after the Battle of the Rainbow Cluster.

Episode 16 of the original 1974 series deals with condemned prisoners and a rebellion and there are concentration camps with religious dissidents in YAMATO III.

Hilde will end up being the face of the Garmillas people on the upcoming battle. I'm assuming Desler doesn't bring the "boring people" of Barelas with him so she might end up being the innocent casualty of war that leads Kodai to ponder on the horrors of war and of a victory that tastes like ashes...

And Ito has a nice death scene... More than he deserves but that's what this show does. Even the baddies get good scenes.

That's the Soul of Chogokin 2199 Yamato that was announced a couple of weeks back. As for calling it large scale, not really. It's about 42cm long which puts him between the 1/1000 and the 1/500 (1/700 by the new ship size). But for those who never got any of the previous releases from this line, it might be a good time to get one. I have the 1/500 model and the original GPX-01 Soul of Popinica so i'll probably pass on this one. If i do get another Yamato, it'll be the 1/1000, just to have one in scale with the rest of the Bandai 2199 models.

Do you have a better image of that page on the right? Most of the images are "old" news but some of episode 21 are new.

The timeline is only marginally sped up from what I can see. Not by a lot. Maybe a month and a half faster. Means if things proceed more or less as normal, they will return to Earth in December 2199. Ten months after they left Earth. Eleven months after the Battle at Pluto.
