Environmental Division: The Planeteers. "The Power is Yours"

The Planeteers is the section responsible for promoting awareness of environmental issues and the effect that humans have on the environment. There are 5 broad areas in which the section works in, each of these areas watched over by their own specific division.

They are as follows:
Earth: Focusing on damage to the ground (heavy mining, deforestation, etc.)
Fire: (Not sure about this one )
Wind: Air Pollution, etc, etc
Water: Water Pollution
Heart: Focusing on helping improving the lifestyles and attitudes of people to 'do the right thing' for the environment through various strategies such as workshops. Works in conjunction with the other 4 divisions to help them draw up plans for the prevention of environemtal issues.

Each of the members are presented with a ring upon joining the section, corresponding to which division they belong to. These rings are also indicators of rank/ seniority, with leaders of the section required to have acquired 5 rings, that is have been involved in each of the 5 divisions. Only Heart is not available for first time applicants to the section, being a division where experience in one of the other divisions in necessary for work.

I'll update this post with more ideas in the morning... But it's a basic outline at least. Although I've got no idea how to fit Captain Planet into all of this

Ah points noted. No wonder I can't RP shaman well (and I never play them anyway).

Now to see how all this fit into the Artefact, or at least what the Artefact is trying to do. For some part, I was thinking if the card created 4 "elementalings" like the Summer Scorchlings you see during the Mid Summer Festival using the elemental spirits. They'd be a boisterous bunch, hate to return to their card form, and are essentially 4 Intelligent Devices forged from the Spirits like elementals are. Not sure if this is legal though.

Nothing like studying and getting bored to make you think of something. This is mostly about Kouya's clan:

1. It is organized into castes, each named after an elemental spirit. Kouya would be from the Aun (Wilds in their tongue) caste that rules over the other castes, and his shamanism would then be called the Aunshu. Unfortunately, if he was from any lower caste, he'd not have the time to be running around topside. Nor would he be with magical powers.

2. Aun’la’Kouya is the wolf-pup’s full name, the first denoting his caste, then his rank, then his name. There’s supposed to be a cluster name in the front, but I’m still thinking of it.

3. Kouya’s mother, Aun’O’Raika, is the current Aun Alpha, meaning that she not only sits on top of the other castes, but chairs the Aun as well. Her mate was slain in battle against an Ork Waagh before Kouya was born, and she then wandered for many years thereafter, leaving the Alpha to her cousin. When she returned, not only Raika softened as a shewolf, she was bearing a hanyou cub. Most of the cluster know not of her experiences, but nevertheless, like how they’ve always been, they welcomed the new cub into the family. By virtue of his birth, once Kouya passes all the Trials of Passing, he would take over his mother as the Aun Alpha.

4. Due to the development of the surface world, as well as them being hunted as merciless killers despite it only involving their rabid sick, werewolves are near extinction and hence treasure every one of their children. Not only that, they as a race already straddle both sides of being youkai and human. As such, unlike other youkai societies, they have no qualms about Kouya being a hanyou, and instead regard his greater humanism as a blessing.

I've got a few more thoughts about what the Trials, the finer points of their culture, and how this group of enlightened wolves came to be and reside deep in the catacombs of the Library Island, the wolf names of the other castes, but that'll be next time after I sort them out.



And while I was about to write a short set during the KO tourney, I realized that I don't know Keroko's weapon/style! Its not necessary for the tournament (Belka movement techniques and the Barrier would suffice like during the vampire arc), but I'd need it for other combat scenarios.

And if you ask me, I am mentally tempted to give Keroko a sword made invisible by her barrier warping the air around it. Name starts with C, and has been missing since Ancient Belka times. And I believe it would have a neat role when Keroko finally accepts who she is.

Your call of course.

And the Cradle is not a sword. >_>

Amongst other news, I've settled for totems as Kouya's Artificer Weapon (). Works well in representing the 5 elements, and because he can wear them as armor, they also have functions in worgen form. But most use would come in humanoid form, most notably stacking the 5 totem segments together to form a long hollow tube that works like a magical bazooka. I'm a genius!

I kindly ask you to stop reading my mind. That thought did pass my head as well, in fact I had somewhat of a brainrush myself. The current plan is to have Keroko recover her full memory thanks to Chao, but the problem forms is that by then she would have already recovered her all her battle capacities, effectively already ranking her powers back to her peak.

Now, this means a little editing is required, but if I dive back to the original draft of Keroko, Keroko would not have a Relic as her Pactio (her Pactio was still up in the air untill this came about) Chao would toss the Relic to Keroko before she left, which would be the cause for Keroko's powerup before the Mundus Magicus arc.

Making this "Sword that starts with a C" () her artifact would solve a myrad of problems regarding her combat style I'm facing right now.

More originality perserved, awesome aditions made. I have zero problems.

Okies, bits and pieces here.

Spoiler for Two components of a magic power plant description from two different sections of text:

The deep sky shot over a large lake, most likely caused by glacialization thousands of years ago in the southern hemisphere. It was the perfect location. Asside from the Ley Lines converging as Hayate had stated, the proximity of the Lake provided a virtually unlimited supply of fresh water for both cooling the mana reactors, and for domestic use. It allowed the engineers who designed the power facility to scale the plant quite liberally. The mana reactors were arranged in the formation of a magic circle, and the main generator building was placed in the center, maximizing the amount of mana-to-energy conversion that could be pulled based on the mathematical mana focal-point calculations that Mid-childa knew best, and then boosted a hundred fold by the saturation caused by the Ley Lines. Coupled with the kilometer wide layout, it produced enough energy every day to provide for the total energy needs of the entire TSAB back to its founding day. Or at least, it could at maximum capacity, or so the numbers stated. However, it's actual energy loading was substantially less by many orders of magnitude. Yet, this did not reduce the facility's sensitivity. And as a prime target for terrorists, it was extremely well guarded and considered impossible for mere terrorists to successfully attack.

At least, until the attackers learned a new trick.

And Nanoha threw herself away from the hand rail and out the back of Deep Sky, followed immediatly by the other three. Their bodies lingered in the slipstream for only a moment before they broke through the air current and began hurtling towards the ground five thousand feet below as the roar of Deep Sky dropped into the distance to be replaced by the roar of rushing air.

It was a breath-taking sight to behold. Sprawled out below them, a kilometer across, the Selene Magical Power Facility lay waiting. The overhead photos and schematics didn't do the facility justuce. Arranged like an eight pointed magic circle made of buildings and landscaping, it sat on a slight artificial penensula jutting out into Lake Celcia, the Ley Lines crossing over the surface of Mid-Childa coming to a focal point directly in the center. Where there wasn't buildings, there was the green of grass or trees, and the blue of ponds and fountains, keeping in Touch with the Focus of Mid-childa trying to promote their green thumb where in contrast it had failed to take hold in places like Cranagan. It held a beauty of its own from the artful, yet practical application.
From this altitude, it was impossible to see exactly what, if anything, was going on, it seemed peaceful.

[STAND BY READY]

But that was merely an outward appearance, and lingering in freefall wouldn't change that.

"Raising Heart," Nanoha called. "SET UP!"

Spoiler for Clever Trap One::

As the Deep Sky orbited the area, Nanoha and fate were the first to make a gentle touchdown on the rooftop of the Central Generator Building. There was no sign of activity on the outside, or anywhere on the Grounds as far as she could tell. Vita and Signum spread out to circle the imediate area around the building itself.

"Touchdown on site," Nanoha crackled over the radio. "Not a soul in sight anywhere."

"Are you sure?" Hayate's voice crackled back. "There should be someone... anyone even. That facility employs over five-hundred workers and at least that amount of security mages."

"Could be hiding indoors out of sight," Vita responded. "But I can confirm there was some kind of attack. There's a trashed Type I drone over here."

"There's a breach in the wall on the south side," Signum added. "Looks like explosives of some kind judging from the scortch marks."

"Check inside," Hayate instructed. "But be on your guard."

Nanoha and Fate nodded at each other and lept over the retaining wall on the south side of the building, half-jumping, half-flying to land lightly on the grass near Signum, who stood inspecting a blast hole in the wall large enough to drive a truck through. Vita came down next to them a moment later.

"Nothing else nearby," she concluded.

"Must have been a one-sided fight," Signum nodded, stepping forward. "But there's nobody around."

With a light bound, she lept into the hole and landed in what would have been a hallway. Fate followed behind and fanned out to the left, and then Vita to the right. Nanoha brought up the rear, and after a quick look, they began to move into the undestroyed section of the building.
As they rounded a corner, they began to hear the steady humming of the generator room.

"Generators are still going," Nanoha advised over the radio. "Nothing interesting here."
"Keep searching," Hayate instructed. "Check the Focal Core room, it should be in the middle of the building."


They followed the circular hallway down, and found another hole blasted in the wall, this one with the remains of a type I drone scattered everywhere. Whoever had attacked knew where they seemed to be going. Following a few more blast holes through the building interior and into the center, they found the Focal Core. Vita entered the room first, and suppressed a curse, her reaction quickly earned the company of the other three, who had mixed reactions.

The Core room was, a mess, to put it lightly. Several security mages lay dead almost right at the blast point, obviously killed by the explosion. Many more lay scattered about the room, killed in a variety of manners ranging from what seemed to be burns, to slashes, to being crushed under partially collapsed peices of concrete where the floor from the room above had come down. Many more lay in crumpled heaps as if something had driven a battering ram into them. It looked as if the entire scene had been one dramatic and failed last stand.

"This was a massecre," Signum's eyes narrowed at the carnage. "Who or whatever killed them was so strong they couldn't even put up a fight."

Nanoha suppressed her own shudder as she looked around, her eyes falling upon a mage that seemed to be the local captain... He seemed fine up until you got to his head, but then... oh dear.

"Type One drones couldn't do slaughter like this," Fate stated as she followed Nanoha's gaze. "There are too many bodies here with fatal head contusions and too many of the injuries seem to be blunt trauma rather than slashing or burning weapons typical of a drone's laser or manipulators."

"Combat Cyborgs?" Signum queried.

"There could be more we never accounted for," Vita nodded.

"It's a possibility," Hayate's voice crackled on the radio. "We've been discovering bits and pieces of Jail's overall work for years. I wouldn't be surprised if we found another ultimate end product of his work."

"But that wouldn't make sense," Nanoha interrupted.
"What wouldn't?"

"Why would Scagletti, a firm magic user, let any part of his work go to a group who, according to records, hates Magic in general?"


Roland, at his spot watching a video feed of the mess in the core room, quickly tapped a button.
"Run that past me again," he instructed. "What's this about hating magic?"

"Sektor 21," Nanoha's voice crackled back. "They're one of the most imfamous organized terrorists organizations on record. They have a fanatical following of people who hate mages, were hurt by mages, or just hate the TSAB in general."

"To date," Hayate continued. "They're one of the largest consumers of black market weapons out there, and they use that to fuel a guerilla war of sorts with the TSAB. As with what we're finding here, their favorite target is mana fueled power facilities."

"For a terrorist organization," Rein came into the conversation next, the screen blinking past her at high speed. "They're quite well organized, and their logistics are rather amorphous, making it hard even for the investigations department to track them down reliably. Most Sektor-21 agents captured are just fanatic lunatics trying to take their hatred out on anyone with magic abilities. There have been over three hundred documented suicide bomber incidents across dimensional space since the official opening of the record on S-2-1 thirty-three years ago."


"I better read up on this," Roland muttered darkly, blinking up a secondary panel. "For a pesky terrorist organization, they've suddenly gotten ahold of some pretty good toys to be pulling jobs like this."


"That's what bothers me," Nanoha's voice crackled back. "If what we're dealing with is the magic hating Sektor Twenty-One group, what are they doing with stuff that's very heavily leaned on Magical research?"

"Which begs the question," Hayate continued. "Are we really dealing with Sektor Twenty-One? Or someone trying to give the impression of Sektor Twenty-One?"

"The other alternative is hypocracy," Signum crackled in her own thoughts. "Terrorists aren't known for playing by even their own rules if they can use something to their advantage."

"But then, if it IS," Hayate returned the ball. "Why is the power facility still functionally in tact after such a lopsided victory?"

"And ergo," Signum continued. "What kind of nasty toys do they have that we should be worried about?"

As Signum said that, Vita looked around again, and noticed one of the dead technicians was leaning up against the core itself, a trail of blood leading all the way across the room as if they'd dragged themselves across the room. It only took a moment of inspection at a distance to notice there was something in each of his hands. With a quick, almost skip across the room, she quickly moved over to the core and examined the hands. One hand was clutched around a deformed block wrapped in a black material. The other was gripping something that had frayed wires. One of them crossed over into the black block, the other was obviously pulled free.

"I got something," Vita snapped. "Come take a look at this..."

Nanoha bounded over quickly, stepping carefully over a few bodies as she went.

"I think we have a hero," Vita nodded solemnly. Fate and Signum joined Nanoha next to her and looked down at the once techie.

"Maybe this will give us our answer," Nanoha stated, and carefully reached forward

"DON'T TOUCH HIM!!!"


Hayate nearly jumped out of her skin as Crash shouted in her ear, having jumped out of his seat in the process.

"Don't touch him, don't touch ANYTHING!" he continued. Roland was staring intently at him from the outburst when he nodded to him. "Sir, are you seeing what I'm seeing?"

Roland looked at the image. Looked simple enough, dead mage, disarmed detonator, squashed black wrapper that said 'M112' in yellow lettering just where it could be seen...

"C4," Roland scowled. "Add that to the list of shit they've gotten ahold of. Bastards."

"Yeah," Crash nodded. "But I think something's wrong with the block."

After a few seconds as Roland tried his best to examine the scene, Nanoha's voice crackled back.
"It's empty,"

"Hol-E shit," Roland scowled, seeing it as well. "It is, good eye there young lady. You too Crash."

"I've nearly been blown up by that stuff two-hundred and thirty-seven times," Crash scowled. "I know what it's supposed to look like."

"Indeed," the General paused, searching the image. "But if it's not in the wrap, where is it?"
And his eyes fell on the blood-stained base of the Core itself, and for the first time, he noticed the odd texture that the technician's head was resting against, unnoticed at first compared to the smooth steel thanks to the discoloration. Oh, clever move.

"Booby-trap," he announced. "His head's sitting right in the stuff. The body is probably the trigger, or sitting on the trigger. Move him and you blow yourselves to smitherines in a spectacular way."

Hayate examined the image. Roland was right. Some kind of putty-looking material, covered in blood, was behind the technician's head. Just barely noticable, was a thin wire dropping down near his neck, looking almost like hair. If moving him was the trigger, the blast would have breached the Focal Core, and the resulting energy release would create an explosion that would have destroyed the building, most certainly killing any mage reguardless of ability. It seemed almost perfectly made for taking down a high class mage. Make it so only strong mages can really get in, then set a trap that would complete the 'mission' AND kill the mage (or mages) at the same time. The appearant disarmed explosive and detonator was a decoy mean to throw investigating mages off just enough for them to make a mistake of moving the body... and BOOM!

This just got more interesting.

"Seal the stuff," Hayate ordered. "We better search the rest of the facility for more traps. I think this pretty much answers if they're still around."

As she recived an affirmative response, she rose from her seat and moved towards the back ramp.

"Where are you going?" Roland asked.

"I'm heading down there," Hayate responded, transforming in a flash. "We need more eyes on the ground to find the cause of the incident."

"You think it's wise to do that?" Roland crossed his arms, as if asking her to weigh her actions. Hayate smirked.
"We stand a better chance of finding the problem this way," she stated. "It's more logical. I want you to cover us from up here, if you have any suggestions, I'm open to them... Sir.

Roland nodded, spinning around to hit a button on his console.
"In that case, take Crash along with you," he instructed. "That'll make it even so you can pair off, and he's the one who caught the trap just now."

"What?!" Crash snapped, grabbing one of the hand bars and taking a step back. "Oh no way! I'm not going down there!"

Roland's head came around as he looked back. "Don't tell me you're scared of a little creepiness?"

"Scared?" Crash laughed, then turned serious. "I'm not scared!" He looked at the monitor where it projected an image from Raising Heart showing the body of the dead tech as she placed a seal on the C4. "I'm terrified."

"Oh, don't be a wuss," Roland shook his head. "There ain't nothing down there but AMF, Mages, and corpses. You're not going looking a fight, just going down to investigate the situation and find out of there are any more nasty traps."

"With all due respect," Crash shot back. "It's finding one I'm worried about. Or finding out what caused the corpses. Because I don't want to be one of them!"

Hayate crossed her arms behind Crash, waiting for someone to make up their mind. She had an investigation to run... And wanted to know what to plan for sometime today. Roland noticed and tried to apply a little more pressure.

"Utter nonsense," he stated.

"Nonsense?" Crash sputtered. "My gut says otherwise. And I'm sure you remember what exactly happened last time my gut told me something wasn't right."

Roland spun around on his chair and put both his hands on his knees.
"There's no Cyborgs or anything like that down there wanting to swarm you," he stated. "You'll be just fine. Better in fact, than the mages with that power armor in an AMF."

"You don't know what might be down there any more then- URGH!!"

Whatever Crash had been planning to say was abrubtly cut off as Hayate, fed up with the argument, decided to take matters into her own hands. Yanking Crash by the collar of his uniform shirt, she hurled him backwards with more magically enhanced strength than her stunted frame would betray to the average passer by. Before Crash really understood what had happened, he found himself uncerimoniously tossed out the back of the Deep Sky into open air, and instantly dropped out of sight.

Roland, Rein, and Shamal stared blankly as Crash, along with his argument, became a moot topic. After a few seconds, the General turned his eyes to Hayate.

"I would never have thought of that one."

"I have kids," Hayate shrugged.

"He is older than you, you know," Roland replied.

"So is Vita," she continued. "Doesn't make a difference to me. Kids will be kids."

And with that she jumped off the ramp and out of sight.

And of course, I already posted the nearly dissasterous (for Hayate) sequence of Clever Trap 2.

You’d probably know the other castes by now. The wolves have been battling the orks that grow underground and so far managed to prevent all of them from emerging topside. And most of all, no one knows where the Aun came from, except they somehow originated from within the Library to save the dying werewolf race.

Now the last problem is the Zatokigan (Means Time of Crisis in their language) equipment jackets… And the rest of the advanced weaponry that the non-Aun non-magical werewolves use to survive the rigors of underground life… I still need to make it feasible, but it’s got to do with the origins of the Aun, the books that were in the library, the Moonwell the wolves venerate and the Earth caste’s efforts to learn whatever they can from the labyrinth of knowledge they are sitting in and apply their discoveries for the greater good. And if it’s not enough, I’m already tempted to invoke Athena...

Like the calm that had replaced the rhapsody of Mahora in festival, a gentle breeze wafted through the hibiscus gardens and over the high school blocks. It carried a light refreshing scent as it laced and played with the long free locks of a red-headed magister. But she could sense none of it, but lingered, eyes closed, meditating.

“Chao!” Keroko screamed as she darted to the top of the monolith, her Relic gleaming strong with emotion. “Chao, don’t go! Chao!”

Kouya then tackled her, forcing some distance between the two girls…

Keroko opened her eyes again, letting them settle at the distant World Tree. A few nights ago, it was the light that turned night into day, and time upside down. Now… it was just a big tree with a toy town built around it.

It couldn’t have been the tree… that shattered her life.

“Keroko-chan…”

She straightened at the voice and spun round into the blue-eared frame of Kouya.

“…you’re crying,” the ministra said gently, hand slowly rising to her face. The red-headed mage hastily shook her eyes clear and tried to force a smile.

“It’s nothing really. I just need a while more…” She chuckled weakly as she brushed fresh tears away. “Gosh, what a cry-baby I turned out to be…”

“It takes a strong person to cry in front of another, Keroko-chan,” the boy dug out from his mental quotebook and left his hand on his magister’s shoulder.

“That’s ‘cause you surprised me, you idiot!” She retorted and croaked, burying her face in her hands. She felt the werewolf knead her shoulder, his language to get another to calm down.

But in the darkness of her palms, memories of the time she had with the class and Chao flooded through. Her hilarious attempts being a waitress at Chao Bao Zi; the exhilaration at getting to test-fire Chao’s latest cannons; the nights where she and the club of girl-nerds worked their skirts off to put Chachamaru back together after some freak accident blew her apart…

The times that she laughed much more than any other, in her incredibly short memories…

Keroko the Furious Defender cracked and splintered and Keroko collapsed into her ministra, pounding on his shoulder, wailing, “Chao…! Why Chao…! Why…”

“Kero-hime,” the prodigy had replied. “Crying gives you more wrinkles you know?”

“This is no time for jokes, Chao!” She screamed back, straining against Kouya’s iron grip. “What do you mean, ‘I have no need for this world any more?!’ What about the class? What about the engineering club? What about Chao Bao Zi?!”

What about me…?

A shadow had crept in with Keroko’s last plea, but Chao kept on smiling. “Times like this, you really sound like a spoilt princess, Kero-hime. I have caused nothing but trouble for you, but you still choose to cling onto this unworthy servant...”

“I…”

“In your brashness, you may hurt yourself, but did you know you also take someone with you?”

Keroko tightened her fist of cloth at the memory, Kouya standing mutely.

“Both of you really are alike, you and your descendent.”

Keroko’s knees weakened at that statement; even Kouya almost dropped the magister in shock.

“And he’s a guy for crying out loud.” Chao laughed as she shook head. “That damned knight…”

Chao looked into the distance. “But now that I think of what he said, what he had done, after what I’ve seen in this day and age, I realize that I was blinded by my pain, refused to see what I had, and chose to flail and hurt the one who mattered, to run away to the past. Now I’ve made a mess of both the past and the future…”

“…but I did learn one thing, Kero-hime.” Chao snapped her attention back to the gathering around her. “Living in any age will always be a battle, will always have its painful memories and endless waltzes; that can never be changed. It’s what one does with now, with what you actually, that really makes the difference.”

“Feeling better?” Kouya cut in after noticing that Keroko was not quivering as much as before.

She nodded, keeping her face flat on his chest.

Kouya huffed. “Truth is, I think Chao spoke much truth, like she does when she means it.”

Keroko shook her head indescriptively.

“We wolves are always struggling against the strings that Fate have woven into a web to doom us. Even in the darkest hours, we were always pushing forward. Be it fleeing from dozers and crazed church-goers, or bounty hunters intent of meeting the day’s quota. When we ran into endless city walls, we would just bash through it. And when we couldn’t, we dug under it. That’s how the 4 Clans made it through China, that’s how the Aun came to be, that’s how we met “Athena” and taught us to make the tools we now take for granted…"

“Athena,” Keroko muffled. “How nice it must be to have a patron saint when you are lost…”

“Say, I never told you who Athena was right?”

Keroko looked up. “Well I suppose she’s some super-Aun from long ago.”

Kouya just smiled like a child hiding something for peekaboo. “How about something more exact?”

The magister frowned at him. “Hey that’s not fair! At least give me a about a clue or som--!!!”

Her eyes went wide as realization dawned. A few nights before, the Fire caste came to the surface to fight for the world they lived in. Later that same night, every wolf gathered round, every wolf dropped their rifle, every wolf prayed, every wolf pleaded silently…

…to their goddess standing on a monolith as she rose back into the heavens from which she came. The one they exalted, and the one they had betrayed.

“The other Castes fear the departure of the Aun, for it harkens back to the time of chaos that we’ve crawled out from tooth and nail.” Kouya added, his smile twisting a little. “Can you then imagine the fear for the departure of the one who taught the Aun that leads them?”

Kouya hid it well, but she knew, after several times of living amongst the wolves, that what she felt was nothing like the absolute terror that must have gripped the outnumbered but brave warriors that earlier stood firm against a wall of robots. Keroko remembered what she said earlier, and looked away in shame. “I- I’m so sorry! I didn’t know--!”

“…it’s alright. Chao said it didn’t she? She was proud of us, that we had finally grown up. It was an obstacle that we had to overcome, and once again, we prevailed.”

The magister’s mind took the Cassopeia once again, back to the moment that Kouya mentioned. She remembered Kouya had let go, and joined his brethren on his knees. Only now did she know what that grand gesture really meant!

“I’m returning to fight my battle,” Chao had declared. “And to return the favor I owe, to the one who has done so much for me to return here despite his own wishes. I hope you do the same, Kero-hime.”

“Do what, Chao?!” Keroko had yelled above the howl of wind that was swelling into a tornado about the monolith.

“Discover the one who really has stood by you wherever, whenever!”

“I must say, you look very funny while you dream.”

Keroko snapped back to reality and, laughing and crying, double-socked Kouya as she backed off. “Kouya-kun!!!”

The Aun’la faked a flinch and made a silly face, earning several soft punches and kicks in return.

“Ow! Hey! OW! Okay you’re getting too serious!!!” He protested and stopped fleeing, and so did she. There was a brief silence; Kouya sneered a little; Keroko pffted; then both gave into the hilarity that came out of no where. No memories, no emotions, just good laughter after the body had snapped from all the tension.

“Now that you’re back to normal,” Kouya gagged. “Mind if I ask what did Chao give you before she left?”

Keroko waved a Stop at him while she tried to breath some air in, then simply reached out, grabbed air and held her fist out to her ministra. She was still giggling somewhat. “You mean this?”

“Very funny Keroko-chan,” Kouya replied with a cat-gaze of incredulity as he prodded the space over her fist, then twisted into bird-brained surprise as he was stopped by something cold and solid. “What the…?! What is it?!”

Keroko moved the invisible artifact around, admiring the aura it gave out. “It’s a sword, and like you, I can’t see it. But I can… feel it. It’s here when I want it to be, and even if I let go-“ Keroko released her fist and pressed it into Kouya’s hand. His eyebrows up. “-it goes away, but then I try to find it again-“ Keroko grasped and pressed the flat of the “blade” against Kouya, making him jump. “-there it is. It’s like it’s… always been a part of me. Or part of this barrier I have around me.”

The wolf held her by the fist and proceeded to trace out the hidden weapon with his other finger. However, now that the cloud of emotion had faded, Keroko felt his hand burn against her’s. The realization that she had recklessly thrown herself at another man turned the color in her face deeper, it twitching even more from giddiness. But Kouya took no notice, lost in trying to understand something he could touch but not see, even taking a sniff here and there...

Keroko relaxed. The burn subsided, and was left with the warmth of a quiet puppy Keroko knew.

“…you take someone with you as well?”

That quiet puppy that protected her when she was attacked by a vampire, before she learnt how to use her powers. That quiet puppy that hauled her up when the party met with disaster deep within the Library. That quiet puppy that risked rebuke from his clan by sheltering her in his home while she was lost. That quiet puppy that stood with Negi and Kotarou when she and several others were snatched unceremoniously from the bath house.

“It’s what one does with now, with what you actually, that really makes the difference.”

That puppy that intervened against numerous oni back at Kansai Bay. That puppy that attacked Negi when he lost his mind, simply because he threatened to harm her. That puppy that never failed to leap out of the moon to her side whenever she met danger.

“Discover the one who really stood by you wherever, whenever!”

That puppy… That puppy…

“…ne, Kouya-kun.”

That puppy-boy stopped what he was doing and looked back quizzedly.

Keroko suddenly found his gaze a little too penetrating, and shied away. “Um… Thank you… For last night… and… everything else.”

He just blinked and scratched the back of his head. “Erm… What for?”

“WHAT FOR?!” Keroko exploded, flailing. “WHAT DO YOU MEAN, WHAT FOR?!”

“SORRY!!!” Kouya cowered, eyes wide in fright.

The magister frowned. “Do I really have to spell it out to you?”

The ministra, as usual, had a lot of question marks coming out of his head.

“…you idiot.”

And she took a step forward, tip-toed and pulled on his collars in for a long draw on the lips; the fur on his ears were clearly standing on end. When they did part, Kouya shuffled backwards uneasily, utterly confused… yet strangely delighted.

Keroko had a good deal of pink about her nose, but she winked as she retreated. “That’s thanks for stopping me so many times, you clingy pup.”

Even several minutes after Keroko had disappeared down the stairs, Kouya was still rooted to the ground and certainly still absolutely floored by the turn of events.

I pray to the Light that I may be still alive tomorrow, for I fear that I may be painted for an Ion Cannon Breaker.

That's why I kept telling you in IRC to go for it, eh?:P

I liked the interactions a lot. The sudden appearance of OC's in Negimaverse takes a bit getting used to, but it was made lighter by the fact that you and Keroko had been discussing about it in detail, so I pretty much know a fair bit about Keroko Negima version ( to Keroko for the awesome shop!) and Kouya.:3

It's poignant and sweet. You can pick up a lot of implied details already just from the scene alone. This has me anticipating your and Keroko's foray into Negimaverse in full force.

Anyway, I can't really be active for longer than I thought.:/ This thesis work is taking up much of my time. Though I prioritize this a lot since I want to increase my CGPA, so I need to focus on other subjects as well. The only sure time I can return here is probably not gonna come until April of next year... T____T

The stage is set; the two sword-wielders facing each other up in the air. Their eyes burned with overwhelming strength of will as they faced their respective opponent. The two swords, one a silver falchion and the other, a pristine white longsword, gleamed brightly in the sunlight. A long period of silence passed as the two fighters sized each other up.

Signum broke the silence, stating her title, “I am Signum. The Sword Knight of the Wolkenritter…” she readied her sword, brandishing it forward with steely poise, “And this is Laevatein.”

The black-haired stranger replied in kind, “Grandis… Lacetti.” he held his sword forward “And Gottes Rächer.” he readied his stance, a grim smile spread across his face, as if stating his name was somehow a disgrace, “I do not think I deserve the right to follow the Knights’ custom, for I am not qualified. But,” peculiar dark flames, the color like that of dried blood sprouted out of the hilt of his sword and proceeded to cover the entire expanse of his blade, “That does not mean I won’t fight you with all my power.”

“I expect nothing less, if you expect yourself to last through this battle…” Signum replied.

[Explosion!] echoed Laevatein’s mechanical voice; shooting out a single cartridge to cover Signum’s blade with flames as well.

“Then…” A dark violet Belkan symbol appeared beneath the male, closely followed by a magenta one under Signum, “Prepare yourself,” Grandis shot forward, trailing the crimson blaze emanating from his sword, “Knight Signum!!!” a short battle cry followed.

“Hmph.” Signum lunged forward as well, her own roar of battle leaving her throat as she clashed with Grandis in their first clash of blades.

A collision of blades, several sparks scattered into the air as the two swords, as beautiful as they were deadly, collided with each other; their gleaming edges ripping through the air in insanely quick blurs. Numerous reverberations of steel against steel resounded so quickly in succession that almost only a single metallic ring can be heard; woven together as one continuous chain by the lightning-fast attacks of both combatants.

Signum broke the dance of swords first, sidestepping an attack and jumping back to gain distance.

[Explosion!] announced Laevatein as a single cartridge loaded. [Schlangenform!] the blades separated, forming a chain-linked whip of razor-sharp bits.

“Haaahh!!!” Signum lashed out with her chain-whip, aiming directly at Grandis’ head.

“Keh-!” Grandis batted away the serrated edges of Signum’s chain-whip, only to find them snapping back at him like a viper lunging at its prey. He jumped back a few meters after blocking yet another attack and plunged the edge of his blade into the ground. “Ascend!” he shouted.

[Mauer des Gaia.]

Slashing upward, he caused a large column of earth to rise unnaturally from the ground, blocking and absorbing almost the entirety of Signum’s attack.

“What the-!” Signum blurts out as Grandis jumped from behind his earthen defense and shot towards her, his once again flaming blade upfront. She quickly imbued her scabbard with magenta-colored energy as she prepared to block his incoming attack.

“Hyaaah!” Gottes Racher slammed powerfully against Laevatein’s scabbard, sending Signum flying back several meters. Despite this, a small smile curved up her lips as Laevatine’s head came bearing down on Grandis from behind. He noticed and managed to block, his ear almost being cut off if he didn’t avoid in time.

“Tche.” Grandis gritted his teeth in annoyance, loading a single cartridge, he commanded, “Gottes…”

[Flammenhieb.]

“Hyah!!” he hefted up Gottes Racher and slashed downwards, sending a flaming crescent wave straight at Signum.

[Schwertform!] Laevatein chains links reattached themselves to each other, once again forming the falchion.

“Haah!” Signum slashed upward with both sword and scabbard, breaking Grandis’ attack and scattering the flames into the surroundings.

Grandis sent another wave towards Signum and rushed after his shot. Taking the safer course of action, Signum jumped up into the air to evade the incoming crescent of flame and made a shield appear beneath her feet, using it as a springboard to lunge towards the fast-approaching Grandis. She took Leavatein’s handle with both hands and struck simultaneously with her opponent as hard as she could.

*CLANG!!!*

The following impact sent a superheated shockwave of force exploding outwards from the meeting of the two blades. Both sword-users gritted their teeth as their blades grinded mercilessly against each other, both trying to push back the other with their physical power. A low growl escapes each of their lips as each blade loads a single cartridge and sprouts the contrasting flames of the two warriors.

As quickly as the deadlock happened, it broke, turning into an enraged flurry of cuts, thrusts and slashes that sent waves of fire flying around the two combatants. Once again, the two share an insanely fast exchange of attacks that they seemed to be surrounded by a sphere of roiling flames of two distinct colors.

And once again, they broke away from each other, only to rebound back to strike almost simultaneously. This exchange repeated several more times, the two combatants appearing like two flashes of light flying around the air and colliding against each other a number of times every second.

It was a spectacular sight to behold; ripples of incinerating flame explode every time the two fighters clash in the air. The ground below them already bears several scars of their duel, with several craters and burning foliage scattered around the vicinity…

Another clash… the deadly dance of steel and flames being broken for the moment by another deadlock between Signum and her opponent… They pressed their swords against the other so powerfully that sparks burst constantly from when the two edges meet. Two pairs of blue eyes of varying shade, much like the color of their flames and magic glared at each other’s intensely. Their eyes belayed no hatred, only showing underlying strength and determination; as well as newfound respect for each other as combatants.

The standstill once again broke.

*CLANG!!!*

“I expected a lot from what I’ve heard about you, Knight Signum… And lo, and behold! It seems like even the rumors doesn’t do you justice.” Grandis was grinning slightly, lending a slightly out of place hint of viciousness in his otherwise genial visage.

*CLANG!!!*

“I’d commend your abilities as well, Lacetti.” Signum replied, smiling as well. She flies back a bit, with Grandis doing the same. They both ready their poses, regaining their breath as they size up each other for renewed set of assaults they knew would come soon afterwards. “As much as I’d like to fight you longer,” Signum started, “I cannot afford to waste my time here. If you’d forgive my selfishness…”

Two cartridges shot out from Laevatein, “I’ll have to end this soon, Grandis Lacetti.” She finished, making her scabbard disappear and holding her blade with both hands. A jet of flames sprouts from the shaft of her sword and proceeds to encase Laevatein’s blade with much more powerful flames than before.

“Hmm…” the black-haired man only smiled lightly in return, “Unfortunately,” he raised his sword with both hands above his head in a high stance, “That I cannot allow. Just as you have your duty as a Knight, I have my orders as a mercenary… It’s either I delay you for as long as required. Or..."

[Explosion!]

“I defeat you…” his unnatural dark flames once again wrapped around his own blade, “Any other result… is unacceptable!”

Signum smirked, “Then,” her smile vanished from her lips, replacing her expression with focus, her eyes sharpening, “…let’s see whose result will be obtained.”

“Gladly.” He answered, his own face becoming devoid of emotions, “En Garde!”

With a simultaneous roar, they flew towards each other at top speed, once again clashing in a vicious flare of divergent flames…
