Now on Dead Space: Martyr by Brian Evenson. The setting is a number of centuries before the game. The man in the game who the Unitologists worship (Michael Altman) seems to be the central character, he discovers a signal emanating from the Chixulub crater (the dinosaur killer), he asks around but no one knows the cause or seems very interested. I'm only 1/5 of the way in so far. A different set of characters are digging to get to the source and the two men closest are already going insane. The anomaly making the signal is the Black Marker.

Recently read The Alchemist and The Princess Bride for a summer school project. I liked The Alchemist much more than The Princess Bride, especially since theres a lot more character development and spiritual concepts, whereas The Princess Bride just seemed like another run of the mill story. Was it enjoyable? Yes, but it wasn't very special or left me saying "Damn that was awesome!" like The Alchemist did.

Just came out of Barnes & Noble where I picked up the classic Beowulf and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Price of Freedom by A.C. Crispin. Should be a fun read.

Here's one book that I will be acquiring but I see few will be picking up due to the subject and language barrier :-

Title literally translate as "Spring and Autumn of the Japanese Adult Video industry."

Basically, the subject is as the title implies, an insider peek into the workings of the JAV industry. There are very a few books dealing in this area, be it in english or otherwise, hence why I pick it up. If anyone doubts the credential of the author, he is the key blogger of certain "avno1" blog and that's enough, I believe.

I could go in depth into the book when I'm done with it, write a review lifting a few facts or even translate a chapter or 2 here or anywhere when appropiate if anyone is interested.

Just finished Arthur Miller's The Crucible, again for English, but I actually enjoyed it a lot, despite it being the scariest book I've read (along with George Orwell's 1984).

You think The Crucible was scary? You're adorable

(it was more just suspense for me)

Hard for me to describe most books as scary really (unless you're reading it in a cold dark basement or something). The part in Metro 2033 where they're running from pure death and darkness in one tunnel was scary...and I was reading that in middle of the day. Goddamn Glukhovsky knows how to write.

Ok, well, scary compared to other stuff I normally read

I guess religious zeal like in that book scares me a little... and Abigail was one freaky-deaky kid. So yeah

Wondering whether I should continue reading DRRR!! vol. 4 or start Silverfin, a kid's book I bought for fun/to share with my little brother...

I just finished The Kite Runner. It was pretty good. A bit depressing, but good. And now I'm back to reading The Pickwick Papers, which I've been trying to finish for some time, but I keep getting distracted by things I get at the library.

Finished SilverFin of the Young Bond series a bit ago, very entertaining and surprisingly brutal for a kid's book O.o

The burglar than smelled smoke and Keller in Dallas by Lawrence Block. That was a bit short but it's always good to read something new about my favorite hitman and gentleman burglar/ bookstore owner .

reading Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor E Frankl (a memoir from the Nazi death camps) , LOST and Philosophy (philosophy in the show LOST...my favorite show ever.) and as for manga, I picked up Lucky Star volume 1 and it is greatly amusing me. Next in line are Mistborn: The Well of Ascension and then Mistborn: The Hero of Ages, by Brandon Sanderson.
