Best OP and ED of 2004

Ok, since we're getting really close to the end of the year it's time to ask what OP's and ED's that have shown this year do you think is best? Rate them while you're at it too. (Note, show only needs to have aired on tv in japan in 2004 to qualify)

Best OP:

1. Tie: School Rumble/Beet the Vandel Buster
2. Samurai Champloo - Can you say "Kick a**"?
3. Zipang - Not really sure how to describe what I like so much about it, but there's a lot.

Best ED:

1. School Rumble - Mmmmm.
2. Windy Tales - It's cool because it's never quite the same thing each time. They always seem to do something different which makes you want to watch it to see what's new this time around, which is big points in my book because it makes you want to watch the ed again and again.
3. Great Detectives Poirot and Marple

Ok, list your picks.

Best OPs:
  • Elfen Lied - Lilium; Agreed. Beautiful.
  • Twin Spica - Venus Say; Very catchy.
  • Beck - Hit In The USA
  • GantZ - Super Shooter
  • Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai - Metamorphose
Best EDs:
  • Midori no Hibi - Mousukoshi... Mousukoshi...
  • School Rumble - Onna no Ko Otoko no Ko; Very enjoyable to listen to. The live action music video, however, very not so. You'd be amazed.

Well.. I think alot of anime have really nice OP and EDs.. all very well made with great music. So I shan't try to compete and list along with you guys.

I'm watching Planetes now, and I really like its OP and ED. Because the theme of the anime is along the lines of the dreams of the protagonist (Hachimaku) and such, I really like how the OP/EDs are sequenced. In the OP, you see him running and he stumbles, but keeps going.. I like that. What impressed me most, however, is the first few moments of the ED, where you see the young Hachi running alongst the takeoff lanes carrying his toy plane. And when the plane takes off, there's this EXTREMELY subtle animation where he dips his head and raises his toy plane along with the real plane that's taking off... It's a really beautiful and nostalgic scene, with great music supporting it.

That's my vote.

Best OPs

1. Meine Liebe - This is what makes me love the anime so much. Love the Arabian, poppy, feel!
2. Windy Tales - Slow a dramatic, just the way I like it.
3. Pretty Cure - The first OP I translated ever. Still remains on my top favorites list.
4. Futakoi - I fell in love with this one right away. Really nice melody that easily gets stuck in my head.
5. Melody of Oblivion - Somehow, I think awesome karaoke effects made me love this more.

Best EDs.

1. Pugyuru - Didn't think this would impact me so much, but I absolutely adore it. It's different every time, too! And each one is a funny story!
2. Mai-HiME - I like how it's poppy, but yet slow. The lyrics are meaningful too.
3. Love Love - La la la~ This one has a really nice tune to it.
4. Gakuen Alive - I like the duet.
5. Kurau - Nice a peaceful... reminds me of Moonlight Sonata...

I think I've said this before, but it's a rarity that I ever like any anime openings or endings, due to my tastes in music. More accurately, anime music is usually the type of music that I have an aversion too. So my list is going be short.

1. School Rumble Ending. I've got to admit, it is pretty catchy. Somehow its melody got stuck in my mind.

Hmm...that's pretty much it. I'm almost tempted to say Moon Phase's opening. But I realize that the song isn't all that great and incredibly repetitious, and I was just being brainwashed by Hazuki's moeness...

Samurai Champloo and Blench have the best opening songs. For ending songs, I hate them them all this year. I guess if Witch Hunter Robin is included, then i like its opening and ending songs.
