Ep 19 has it in print where its much more obvious. I dont know what the significance of a small ャ is there, perhaps KJ will enlighten us. My guess would be that it is there not to add a syllable, but to make the タ sound like it was pronounced by an american. But I have no basis to justify that theory so consider it wild speculation

Afghan Memo #21, The 2nd Great Game
Following the rise of the Taliban, the warring mujahedeens joined forces. They called themselves as the "Northern Alliance" to form a resistance against the Taliban. When Turkmenistan's ambitions for a pipeline to its vast natural resources came shape, neighboring nations began to interfere in the matter which further complicated the civil war in Afghanistan. These international influences came to be known as the "Second Great Game" in correspondence to the original Great Game of the late 19th century. Afghan Memo #22, Al Qaida Al Qaida is an international terrorist organization led by Osama bin Laden under the ideology of extreme radical Islam. Its organization began when Afghani militias fought against the Soviet invasion in 1979. Much of its current activities are motivated by anti-American sentimism. When bin Laden sought refuge and exile in Afghanistan in 1996, he used his vast financial wealth and connections to come in close contact with the Taliban's inner circle. Following this, anti-American ideology began to strongly influence the Taliban government. Afghan Memo #23, 9-11 September 11, 2001. Four hijacked passenger planes plowed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in a suicide run. The acts of the terrorist shook the world in fear as the death toll rose to over 3,000 (the largest toll from a terrorist act). This incident strengthened the hawkish conservatives in the U.S. Congress. As the gears were set in motion, military action began to be seen over the horizon. In October 2004, a videotape was aired in which bin Laden himself admitted in planning and instigating the attacks. Afghan Memo #24A, War on Terror September 16, 2001. Pakistan, which supported the Taliban regime, announced it's alliance with the United States. By losing its last supporter, the Taliban found itself with no ally against the U.S. September 20, 2001. The U.S. announced that "an U.S. led international alliance against global terror" to be known as the "War on Terror." The U.S. built an alliance of many nations by coersion; "if a nation does not go along with us, that nation is a harborer of terrorism." Such measurements led to nations surrounding Afghanistan to be used as temporary U.S. bases. Many problems will begin to arise due to this stance. Afghan Memo #24B, U.S. Invasion of Afghanistan The Taliban government refused to heed to the U.S. demands to hand over Osama bin Laden as a prime suspect in the 9-11 terrorist acts. Their primary reasoning was due to "insufficient and lacking evidence." October 7, 2001. The U.S. refused to hand over evidence that the Taliban requested and began to airstrike primary targets across Afghanistan. Although the primary targets were military installations, several of these airstrikes hit civilian complexes as well. As a result more than 15,000 people began to seek refuge into neighboring Pakistan. Alongside with these airstrikes, the Northern Alliance also began their attacks against the Taliban. By December of that same year, the Taliban was overthrown and a transitional government was put into place with UN supervision. Afghan Memo #25, The refugees return In early 2002, peace finally seem to set in after years of turmoil caused by Soviet invasion -> civil war -> U.S. invasion. Many Afghani refugees in neighboring nations began to return to their home country. The UN implemented a policy of aid to returning refugees for Afghanistan. However, the problems that have piled up over the twenty years of war and turmoil cannot be easily fixed. The progress of rebuilding Afghanistan will see major snag for the foreseeable future. Afghan Memo #26, The effort towards peace October 9, 2004, Afghanistan held its first general election. The majority of the votes for president was won by the interim president, Hamid Karzai. In December of that year, the government led by Karzai began its first steps to establish democracy and modernization to Afghanistan. The Karzai administration's first and primary concern is to disarm the warlords (i.e. the Northern Alliance) which have been in fighting for the past twenty years. With international aid, they are also taking initial steps to reduce the growth of opium and narcotics trafficking and removing mines leftover from years of warfare. Slowly, they are striving to move towards peace and prosperity. |

Ive usually seen that one represented as "ムッ" or "ムカ", never ムキ. If you take it as a word rather than a SFX, it could be the むき from "むきになる" it could even be a mix of that and a shriek "キー" I went with a muscle SFX sound... it sortof made sense to me at the time :P |
