I noticed I can't find the option that makes it advance to the next line after commit. Is that a feature of 2.1.0?

However personally I haven't gotten a single crash lately with the latest release...
I've been hearing that it's ok to upgrade. Thanks for the reassurance.

Anyway the solution to your problem is to turn off autoscrolling. This is done by clicking the green button to the right of the pause button below the video area, so it turns red. You can do the same with the audio, it's button number 17 in this screenshot: http://aegisub.cellosoft.com/docs/Au...ain_audio_view
Yeah I "found" auto-scroll (the video ver, not audio) not long after posting here, so thanks for helping! Now I know how to do both.

I've been doing it by watching the video and hitting the buttons that start and end the line in synch with the current frame of video.

I have some other questions but I'm going to try to round them up in my head first.

On an off-topic note, is there a way to find out if what I'm subbing has already been done? I'd hate to reinvent the wheel. I'm doing Hyde's Faith Live DVD (disc 1)

I'm 3 songs in after about 2 hours of work and learning. I'm hoping to turn it into a DVD compatible subtitle file so people can reburn the DVD with the subs.

No, but 1.10 doesn't have any options dialog box so you need to edit the config.dat file manually if you want to turn it on.

Thanks for the tip.

I've been over at the official forums too and the developer is super nice and helpful.

Hi, I'm having some problems rendering video.

As you can see, the video's shifted down slightly so the bottom line is completely cut off. This happens for everything I load in.

I get the same problem on my laptop. I switch it vista basic mode then it works fine. (This only happens in vista)

I had the same issue in my father's laptop, but updating Intel video drivers solved it (although it caused Aegisub to crash whenever I tried to open the detached video display)... But good to know that disabling Aero fixes it.

I've got a little issue with Aegisub v2.1.2 r1987 in the way that it sometimes crashes when I'm using the Find & Replace function.
Indeed, sometimes it works perfectly and the minute after, the function makes Aegisub crash: it freezes and then does not respond anymore.
I've never had such a problem before and it seems my problem has appeared since the v2.1.0. Unfortunately it's even worse with the last version :s
If someone has the same issue or has any clue about it, I will appreciate a lot a bit of help ^^

Hi again guys! Ok... here is a tough question for you...

how can i make a very difficult move on my subs like this?

I know how to use all these commands. My real problem is at the last turn how to use them all, at the same time, when it comes to rotate+move+slow+getting fonts smaller...

The ASS format doesn't support that directly. Your only option is to write a script that calculates the motion, either frame by frame or in "sections". Then generate a line for each frame or section.
I've done this a few times in various karaokes, using both techniques.

Yes, this requires programming and will probably take a significant amount of time. I think I have an example buried somewhere deep inside the karaoke help thread.

I would like to know the opposite, how do you make it not work?

I will assume you use Windows.

Make sure you have installed the support for East-asian languages that comes with Windows. It generally makes East-asian languages better supported in applications.

Also make sure you use a font that supports the characters you need.
If the Japanese text shows up in the editor but not in the rendered subtitles, you might need to change the Encoding field of your style.

Impossible to tell from the error itself.
You need to post the crashlog (Start->Run "%appdata%\aegisub\crashlog.txt") for anyone to have a chance to diagnose the problem.

Most likely, however, is that it's related to audio. Either playing it (try opening just an audio file in the Audio menu and play that!!) or decoding it from the video file (try Open Audio from Video in the Audio menu.)
