Indeed, I knew that. I accidently left out two words. What I meant to say was:

Someone will eventually release a player that can play h264 encoded avis and mp4s (and maybe mkvs) just because there is a market for it, just as we now have DVD players that can play DivX and XviD encoded avis. Manufacturers will try to sell anything that they think will make a profit.
