Hmm, I won't say its impossible, but its not plausible at the moment either. It all depends on how the story progresses. Make the wrong choices and someone could actually go Yandere.

Class rushed past, and soon break time had arrived. I sat back with a sigh as Lowran-sensei left the classroom. While I am fairly good at it, English was one strange language. Hard to pronounce, and what was with all those ‘the’s? Lowran-sensei had fortunately decided to cut me some slack on my first day and hadn’t called on me to answer questions.

A small tap on my shoulder drew my attention back to Yagami-san. “So, you want to eat lunch in the cafeteria or in the classroom?” She asked me.

“Uhm…” I answered as I thought about it. “Well, I’d like to eat here, I don’t know much about my class yet, and I think this is a good way to get to know them.”

“Good thinking.” Yagami-san said as she unpacked her own lunch. “And since I’m the closest person here, Yagami Hayate, pleased to meet you.” She said with a small seated bow.

“I see you still make friends as easy as ever.” A new voice spoke from behind me.

“Fate-chan!” I exclaimed happily as the blonde hired girl pulled an abandoned chair over so she could sit at my desk.

“Nan ya, you two know each other?” Yagami-san said in surprise, her kansai dialect even more obvious.

“Yes, Nanoha and I are childhood friends, even though we never went to the same school together, we lived in the same neighbourhood, so we always played together.”

“Well now, that’s a story Fate-chan hadn’t told me yet. You have to tell me about that, or you’ll make me feel left out.” She said jokingly, making the two of us chuckle.

“Well, before that, could you finish telling me a bit more about yourself Yagami-san?”

Yagami-san waved her hand dismissively. “Hayate is enough. If Fate-chan knows you well enough to let you call her by first name, then I won’t be the outsider. I’ll just have to get to know you better so I can call you Nanoha-chan.” She said with a smile.

…

She really has a warm smile; it makes you feel really welcome.

“So, about me, I’m Yagami Hayate. I currently live not too far from here with my family. We’re.. sort of a strange bunch. My real parents passed away some time ago, and my new family is more like a gathering of acquaintances who decided to live together. I do love them a lot, though. They’ve been taking care of me for some time now. You might run in to them some time here, Shamal works here as the school nurse. Probably to keep an eye on me.

I blinked. “An eye on you?” I queried.

“Ahah.” Hayate rubbed the back of her head in embarrassment. “To tell you the truth, I’ve been getting myself into a bit of trouble. You see, my legs never worked since they day I was born, but recently recovered, and now I can walk again.” She said happily.

“You didn’t recover completely, Hayate, you’re still recovering.” Fate admonished her friend.

“Ahaha” Hayate laughed again before ending with a sigh. “Fate-chan is right. I recovered mostly, but because my legs never worked before, I have to be very careful not to overtax them. That’s why I’m carrying these crutches.” She said as she gestured to said crutches.

“I see…” I wondered what else had to be said. I’m sorry? You did good? I was shaken out of my thought as I noticed Hayate looking at me, as if she was searching for something.

“Uhm… Hayate?”

Almost immediately the smile returned to her face. “So, what are your plans for today Nanoha-chan?”

… Already calling me Nanoha-chan?

“I don’t really know, I was thinking of dragging some details out of Fate-chan concerning that boyfriend she couldn’t stop talking about the past month.” I said while sending a glare at my friend, who suddenly found the blackboard to her right very interesting.

“Heeh? You mean Kha? He’s a nice guy. Fate got lucky with him. Anyway, if you’re interested I could show you the good spots around the school.”

“I’ll think about it.”

Lunch period ended, and classes continued. As the class ended, and the students went home, I thought about what I could do. Fate-chan had slipped away when I wasn’t paying attention, and Hayate was packing her final things.

A: I have to track down Fate-chan. She is not getting out of this one.

C: I could always go exploring on my own, hayate did say I could choose.
D: I’m done with school, I’ll just go to my room.

I can't see why Nanoha should decline an offer like that.

I can't believe how careless Fate is... Bad timings seem to happen a lot in SbtB world.

Plenty of action this time. Even that I miss Nanoha in denial, is her accepting it a good thing.

Loved the 'sub'-pair action. You just can't stop loving HxY They should have a fic of their own.

One of the best chapters and I have nothing to complain about Thanks a lot for these small moments of pleasant reading.

And Nanoha was the first to answer the call. "Takamachi here," she spoke. "Oh, it's the bakery shop. The cake's ready? Alright. I'll come by there and take it tomorrow. How would you like the payment to be made? Cash? Alright, then. I'll take note. Yes. Thank you."

She hung up. Two weeks from now it would be Valentine's Day. She had not planned anything yet for the long-anticipated day, except taking Fate for a surprise party. And that party, she thought, would involve lots of intimate moments she did not dare to spoil to her most precious treasure.

"Mama?"

She looked at the source of the voice. The girl with dual-coloured eyes always made her smile, somehow. "Yes, Vivio?" she asked and invited her to sit on her lap.

"You look kind of dreamy," Vivio asked.

Nanoha laughed and playfully patted the girl's head. "Nah. Just thinking of something special this month," she told her.

"Is it birthday?"

Nanoha shook her head. "It's more important than birthday. Well, of course birthday isn't that unimportant but..." She shyly smiled and brushed her hair off her face. "It's very special for me."

Vivio blinked. "Then what will it be?"

Nanoha poked Vivio's nose. "That's a secret, Vivio dear," she reminded. "I'll tell you when the day comes, okay?"

Come on, guys. Where's your Valentine's Day contribution?

Valentine's Day was coming?

As I said in my previous post, it's all about loyalty, you know, like in real couples. For me is like cheating to enjoy with something that goes against the mentioned couple, that means that I don’t have any problems with any relationship involving any of the other secondary characters, I can tolerate everything in that range from this and from any other series.
If you still have problems with my personal values and you want to keep discussing please use the PM, this is mostly an issue about the differences between our chauvinist societies and is something rather personal.

Well, the idea of Hayate no naku koro ni came up in the OC thread a while back...
...the response was anything from distaste to horrified from just about everyone save 2 or 3 people.

Personlly i think it's an intriguing prospect, but i think that making character(s) everyone likes take a one way trip to hell is generally not received well...

As for whether the roster is large ... how large are we talking exactly ? Most Visual Novels usually (i am roughly generalizing now) offer 5 potential choices as love interest. (Haven't really bothered to find out which game sets the bar in this regard, but i know there are also ones with more than 5). For example Clannad offers 7 possible love interests, and a number of "side paths" to be explored, totaling up to 14 "paths" i think. (too lazy to check at the moment).

... And i doubt it matters at the moment, but i am going to vote A. Seems like a fun thing to find out.

On a final note: Don't say "legs not working" ... "disabled legs" would be correct (Or paralyzed)

Based on story setting, SD and Higurashi style events are pretty far from taking place, unless a Makoto or a mysterious syndrome is introduced. Kaede-style is achievable though.

Iirc, the idea was to have most of the other characters in nanoha truly betray hayate, and by that, drive her insane... Sort of make the surrounding world into something that would propel hayate into that berserk rampage we saw in higurashi... but instead of paranoia causing it, we have real betrayals and manipulations.

Well, i can't imagine THIS particular world turning into something like that though...
...what would you need, something like nanoha first dating hayate for quite a while, and then suddenly do a 180 and go for the entire wolkenritter or something?

Which could be another idea, a Dating Sim loosely following the Nanoha storyline. Multiple choices not only during emotional events, but also during battlescenes to affect the outcome of the story.

Hmm, by my latest count there are 40 potentional characters, 41 if you somehow manage to screw up the Lieze package. While I highly doupt they will all be unlocked, they are all within reach. Some are harder targets to achieve then others, and will force you to jump between paths to unlock.
