Shirou still has his lowest command spell in the church scene so that's -1 point for UBW I guess. Though obviously they could change it so he loses his upper command spell first (It is impossible to see if it's there or not in the screenshot since it's so blurry and would probably be hidden by his jacket anyway) and you could probably do UBW even with a wounded archer.
So trollish that the only scene they included not from the common route is one that is in all routes albeit with differing dialogue.

And, no, they shouldn't adapt that, it would be horrible. Quote:

Right, and how the hell is Shirou going to take down the other servants? Let alone Gil (without UBW)....
I don't for one minute buy the "Shirou wins MoS because Kotomine said so" thing. Kotomine could not possibly know if he wins or not at that point. Plus, Kotomine is a master of "well, technically it was true", so even if he is right I fully expect Shirou to end up losing in effect even if he wins by technicality.

The animation looks great, though that's no surprise from a Ufotable production. It's nice to see Shirou again, and back as the main protagonist .
Of what I could make out from the trailer, there was some lines from Kotomine, Lancer, Rin, and of course, Saber's signature first line . Even as someone who really likes Saber, I legitimately don't care about which route the new anime goes for, so long at there's at least some romance. So if Shirou gets a romance with any of the heroines, I'll be pretty much satisfied .

So we are like always, still not sure about which route the anime will take. As long as is a good story I don't mind it but to be honest I like Saber more than Sakura or Rin. But as long as they do it well HF, Fate or UBW are all good stories, if only the main character didn't rub me so wrong but nothing is perfect.

Which is my problem with the routes in the VN. It does end some characters rather fast because they are develop or explain in other places. That is not how I think an author should use their characters, and it creates an odd feeling. So going in any route without changing it could be bad. Character would appear and go without an arc, sometimes even without lines. Or just not appear at all. Better to use all the elements there to make a good tale than just pick a few and hope people will not ask too many questions. Maybe not the intention but I'm just saying.

Despite what people say, Saber does have a role in HF in her normal form, it's just earlier in the route, and it's not really focussed on because we already had a Saber route. I think they could easily expand that to make Saber a more important character and, indeed, they would need to, because the Saber-related aspects of HF are important as a reader proxy for how Shirou himself feels, and those aspects rely on the player having developed an attachment to Saber in the previous routes. The bit at the end where you have to kill Saber is a real hit to the player, and that only works if the player has become attached to Saber before it happens. Quote:
If the VN didn't have multiple routes, some of the characters would just never get development, because they would need to die to allow the story to work. Having multiple routes means that the shafting of characters can be spread around more, so no one character is fucked-over in all routes.

He was a champ in UBW. Plus, he must not have been screwed over completely since he has so many fans, mostly based on his performance in UBW. |
