They definitely left it open enough to have a plot placed anywhere between the anime's end & 200+ years after it. So setting & timeline isn't an issue. Sadly, the staff seems to have given up on this one, in the end, all VVV has amounted to, was a lot of wasted potential.
Still, there exists the off chance that we do get some other form of animated media, I've seen some pretty terrible & cliched anime get sequels, some even get a threequel. So VVV is no exception, but that chance is very slim for now. Key: Come on, Argevollen isn't that bad. lol Who am I kidding? I don't really like it myself, but I'll still kill time with it until I get bored enough to drop it completely.

I've heard Argevollen isn't bad per say, just boring. Meh even. Has the plot of Captain Earth picked up yet, or should I not go back to it?

Captain Earth is certainly very unique
It earns quite a few originality points but it also has a rather slow start that might be too slow for some people What did you think about Star Driver? Because Captain Earth is kinda like that.. just not as faaaaabulous On the other note, Captain Earth has immortal mecha space vampires Yes, I'm totally serious

As for Star Driver: I dropped it. I kept up with it by checking out threads to see what was going on and all. When it was entertaining it was entertaining, but it was kinda boring, and the characters didn't really draw me in. Immortal Mecha Space Vampires... Are runes involved? What's next? Vampires in Build Fighters Try? Granted they would be some of the cutest vampires ever.

There's a Immortal Space Vampire Idol too! Too bad though she nothing like Saki. No frustrating love triangle even though I never really cared much about the main couple, beside some Haruto's "I'm a monster, not able to love" thing outa nowhere from the MC's love interest like Key had said there not much head banging drama in the romantic part. CE's MC(Daichi) though is a much more likable protagonist than Haruto.

This. So much this. That's Okuchi in a nutshell. That dude has an unhealthy obsession with martyrs. All of his major works always feature one & said martyr is always a MC. That's probably his trademark. All writers do need something to set them apart from the rest after all.
For example, anyone can recognize Orobuchi's obsession with depressing outcomes to his works. (Despite what people say, even Gargantia had a somewhat depressing ending, only difference is, it wasn't depressing & dark.) ----------------------------------- I agree though, Saki is indeed a one of a kind heroine, but her character was treated like shit throughout VVV & she didn't get the kind of development she deserved. With a little bit of development, she could've easily become the most interesting character VVV had to offer, either surpassing L-Elf or being his equal in that regard. At the end of the day, the neglect showed when we could blatantly notice that the character development for anyone not named Haruto/L-Elf became stagnant. ----------------------------------- Btw, I was kinda wrong about Argevollen. It isn't half bad once you warm up to it. Episode 4 kinda got me a bit interested in it. The drama is this one's selling point, not the mecha porn. (Gonna make a post in the Argevollen thread while I'm at it.)

Yeah, considering how she was just shoved to the side in Part 2, I'm not quite sure Okouchi realized how good of a character Saki was. Interesting that the character that he put the most effort into, Haruto, ended up being one of the least interesting, while the one he didn't give two rips about (evidently shown by how no one in JIOR gave a crap about her still being in enemy hands till her execution) ended up being a much more fascinating character (a character-version of Magnum Opus Dissonance you could say).
If someone else takes over should this series get some sort of continuation or spin-off, I hope that they give Saki the development and focus she deserves. |

-L-elf along with A-drei(the royalist) and the left over of the students formed the Third-Galactic Empire. As L-elf isn't a Kamitsuki and can't become one, he is mostly likely dead also after two hundred years later. -The prince is implied to be L-elf's descendant(Okouchi left it open for us to speculated, fucking bastard never give us clear answer for anything). -Most of the 101 Council's members are dead, with some remnant being worshipped by human that desired immortality. Magus that are like Lise, that wanted coexistence with the human also joined the Third-Galactic Empire.

Though I really loved the series, especially at the end, I wished there would be more.
In fact, I saw this as counter to Code Geass or something like that. Perhaps if Lelouch and Suzaku did something like what Haruto and L-elf did at the end, it could have produced a better outcome. |
