Aside from the Umineko forum in my sig, the only place I know of that she's posted links and updates is in the Higurashi manga thread. |

I can't say I recommend the manga, though, since the style kinda turns me off, and it misses so many points. Also, the scans I've seen aren't the best quality translation. You're better off waiting for the patches, really, since the manga goes at a gigantic pace which will spoil you.

eeeesh... so many off-topic chatter that now finds the trash-bin... Since I'm not certain what's going on here, I can only strongly suggest that you guys come back to the topic at hand and settle all your personal issues some where else. Once again, please get back to the topic of discussion.

Hi, I downloaded that file from Rapidshare and Megaupload, but it gives me the same result - when I execute onscripter-en.exe, it just says "07th Expansion, Witch Hunt" with a symbol, then fades to black and remains that way. My english isnt that good, so I hope you understand what I'm explaining. What should I do?
I read the readme carefully, but as I said my english is horrible so I did not understand most of it..... I'm under the impression that I'm supposed to have downloaded something before this though?? |

Did you put the translation folder in as a double folder?
I'm trying to think of how to word that better. The folder you have in the Umineko directory shouldn't be "[WH]Umineko+1+C0-2+English", but it should be "[WH]Umineko 1 C0-2 English". I've tested it, and it does the exact same thing, so that might be the problem you're having. |

Ok, I'm totally lost, is there a free demo of Umineko Chapter 1 to DL, like there was with Onikakushi? Or a paid download like with the rest of the Higu games? Cuz either of those I'd be very happy about, but if I have to buy the disk online and have it shipped to me........... I'm not really interested. I've looked through the posts but I'm not really sure XD

Posting from the thread Higurashi Game disscussion in continuation of my previous question... Look in my previous posts Here: http://forums.animesuki.com/showthre...=33910&page=16 Q: How do you play the Umineko game on your computer? I know that you need a Japanese Language Thingy but I am stuck. I have Windows Vista...so it might be alittle harder for things. <_< |

I am pretty much where I started at still. Here is my previous post in the other thread:
"I put the CD in and a picture of the game shows up with 3 options. One option is clickable while the other two are not clickable. All listed as "??????." I then get a a screen shown in my image that lists two options. One option is a a big box listed as ?????? and another in a small box listed as ??. If I click on the Big box it shows a download bar and once the bar finishes...the bar flashes a couple of times and then stops and makes no progress. If I click on the small box it will take me to a whole other thing. >-< Spoiler for Long Image! XD:
This is what I have on my Tool Bar from that link you gave me: When I click the "JP" or "EN" I can swith it between Japanese JP and English EN. Clicking on the red thingy will bring up two options. Japanese Microsoft IME Clicking on the "A" will bring this up: Right Clicking on any of of the icons will bring this up: If you need anymore pics just fell free to ask! And thanks so much for walking me through this as I really wish to enjoy the Umineko game. Thanks a ton! |

Hi Oyajitchi,
You don't really need the IME to run Japanese games, unless you want to be able to type Japanese characters. What you need to do, in a nutshell, is change the default language codeset used for non-Unicode programs (like Umineko). I don't have Vista myself, so I can't be entirely sure, but here's some directions I found on another site: Quote:
Oh, afterwards you'll find that the backslash looks like a Yen symbol when you run programs like Wordpad. If this bothers you, then read on: You only need Japanese non-Unicode support to install Umineko; you don't need it to actually play the game. So, once you've successfully installed the game (and made sure it runs, just in case), you can change your Regional and Language non-Unicode Settings back the way they were. Good luck! Mion (Sonozaki Futagotachi)

Those instructions will actually work mostly for XP and 2000 too (except there is no "Change System Locale" button - just a drop down).
Some things to note about switching your Non-unicode system locale into Japanese. (for both Vista and XP/2000)

Thanks I changed the Systems Locale to Japanese...but when click to download the game, it does the installing bar thing alot, like it shows it is installing with a bar and progressing as the bar fills in blue...but once it finshes it just...well nothing happens. No game.
Am I choosing the wrong option to load the game or something??? I can post pictures if you want. U-U |
