Phenomeno - VN by Nitroplus and Yoshitabe Abe
Did a search, but nothing came up. Found this on another forum today, figured I'd give it a shot. It's a freeware VN meant to promote a novel series of the same name. The VN features the first two books, from what I've gathered.
Here's the game: http://www.nitroplus.co.jp/game/phenomeno/ and here's the English patch: http://visualnovelaer.fuwanovel.org/tag/phenomeno/ Since the game is free, I don't consider this a violation of our warez rules. I played through it earlier, and it's pretty good. It's a mix of horror, occult, and suspense themes with a light dose of humor. So for those interested, play through it and let me know what you think! It's a short play through, only a few hours.

It was certainly interesting, and I'm half-glad I took it up in the middle of the night. Save for a few grammatical errors, the translation seemed to have done an incredible job.
I absolutely love occult stuff, so this really hit home with me, naturally. Art was fantastic, script was fine (can't really say it was "good" or "bad" distinctly, only that it did its job). I would certainly continue reading the actual light novels... If I actually knew how to read them. Though I must say the sound was one defining factor of this I particularly enjoyed. The music and noises were chilling and I loved it. May not be able to achieve the same effect with just reading alone.

That was a great, quick read! I'm on the fence about picking up the LNs, though... so much of my enjoyment of the visual novel version came from the music/sound effects and excellent direction. Can't really imagine the book version creeping me out in the same way.
