If the book is not vulnerable to Crime Edge, it makes sense the rope wouldn't be either. They're effectively part of the same thing.

From what we have seen I can say that there is a 68% chance the rope is not indestructable.
We know of at least two weaknesses it his no other killing good seems to have.
And even if it was indestrucatable... he could ahve at least tried oO.

Not sure where you got the statistics from, but had Kiri tried I believe he would've just been wasting a few seconds that could've been used to start attacking Seiji in resistance, even if the most he could do was just grip the rope. Plus, he seems pretty much aware that as the rope is a part of his Killing Good it would've been futile to try and cut it. It would've been so hax if the rope was intangible except only to his neck up and he wouldn't be able grip it.

As for the episode itself, I just wish I hadn't read little bit ahead in the manga so the whole thing would've been more surprising for me. It was pretty unsettling to see Kiri getting strangled helplessly until his feet slowly wouldn't be able to touch the floor anymore. Perhaps Yamane-chan wouldn't have been much help since Seiji would've probably noticed her getting close and have made her gone unconcious(unless he knows about her crimes as well), though Kiri wouldn't be bad at getting most of his attention focused on him while she tries to close the distance I think. It was never really said he can't use Judgement on multiple people at once anyway.

The thing that's confusing to me is that I thought we were told the powers of the "killing goods" were based on how many people they were used to murder. Given Kiri has the most people murdered and definitely has rulebook beaten in that regard - it seems strange that rulebook's ability seems so much more powerful. Of course, we need the drama component so he doesn't totally outclass his enemies, but from my vantage point, the magical hanging noose (that can be 'cast' from a distance, even) seems to have too many advantages. You'd think that Kiri's higher kill count would allow him to somehow compensate by slicing the rope, like you're suggesting.

Awesome battle between Kiri and Seiji. I'm amazed how Kiri is able is fight with a rope on his neck that long.

Spoiler for Episode 9:

The episode seemed pretty decent overall, although it does have some QUALITY but at least they aren't too noticeable compared to other animes. The new princess, who's probably a new antagonist, kills the sadist Nakajima and I felt bad for him. This is basically one of some shows where I do somewhat care for the villains as much as the main cast, and it worked. There's also some intimate moments of attempted kissing between Kiri and Iwai, the sexual fanservice is only put on the characters' faces instead of showing their bodies, and that's pretty nice. The policewoman also suffered some backstory when encountering Nakajima, and it looks like by the end of the anime, the sexual tension for the main couple will slightly increase more, which I'm mostly feel for it. The next week's episode will add a new loli for the strange-looking cast, and if the anime will put some good if not great indications that it will have a second season, I will be more content for it!

Even though it was mostly a linking episode it went by in a flash. Once again I notice that this show has an excellent soundtrack that really fits the mood of each scene, but is also beautiful in its own right. Also, Iwai and Kiri might have the best chemistry I've seen in any anime romance. I'm trying to think of better chemistry and I just can't (although right after watching the episode might not be the best time to try).

This series is really astonishing both for the intensity of the emotional contrast and the amazing aesthetics. BGM, visuals, animation, cinematography - it's like an object lesson in cinematic technique. But equally impressive is the intensity of the emotion, both on the dark side and the light (often simultaneously). The last scene in this ep is one of the most raw and shocking displays of physical intimacy I've seen in anime, never mind with middle-schoolers. It's full of danger and disquiet and it's uncomfortable to watch, but it's also somehow rather innocent and romantic.

Strange and beautiful, that's what this series is...

Agreed. I think it's a masterpiece. It was one of my most anticipated shows this seasons and it still managed to outdo my expectations.

This whole show is kind of "racy" if you ask me. It seems like so far almost all of the Authors/Insteads relationships have sexual undertones if not almost blatantly so. Like red hair chick and her whipping boyfriend.
