Um, meh, this show was merely average. I blame AIC.
The directing is bland. DEEN's director was much better at varying camera angles, animating the characters doing things other than talk, giving life to everything. Sure AIC's art is more consistent, but that only added to the blandness, whereas DEEN's inconsistent art was used to enhance the characters and comedy. The delivery of the humor was also more off. The characters are different in their portrayal (it's been a while since I watched the first season, but some things stand out): * Ken now just seems like a snarky pervert. In the first show, his genuine caring was demonstrated more strongly. * Chizuru - her new voice actress fails to get across her onee-sama feel, and the show in general failed to show any of her manipulative/sadistic side, until the very last episode. Back in the first show, she was manipulating Ken and coddling Kurimu all the time, but here, only a couple of times. * Mafuyu - Iori Nomizu does a pretty good job, but the writing doesn't. In the first show, she had lots of focus even though all she did was constantly playing on her PSP, or pairing Ken with Nakameguro or Echo of Death, but here all she does is mention BL sometimes, and at others has no presence. * Kurimu - What happened to her crybaby self and Ken constantly teasing her? We got only a bit of that. * Minatsu - I think she's the only one who's the same as her first show self. Too bad she, as well of most of the other student council members, for some reason don't get enough focus even in their scenes. Episode 4 (or 5) was great, but too bad there was no mention or continuation of it after that. Even the new student council room lacked the nicknacks strewn around that gave the original character. Giving some extra focus to the side characters was good, but I got the feeling we lost too much focus from the student council. Oh, and while Precious was a good song due to sounding like a remix of the (better) Treasure, the OP visuals were generic. Score: 7/10. Taken by itself, it's an average show, but that's not exactly good when the predecessor was great. I know I sound negative, but this is a case where the original did everything better, which colors my perception of this show. I don't know which was more faithful to the source, but I can say that this lacks the special charm of the first. Seizon >>>> Crimson. And what the hell is up with all these cheap-ass 10-episode shows?

Man, episode 0 has me thinking that Kuwashima Houko should be getting more lead/major roles. Probably the only seiyuu of what I term the 'old guard' that I feel sad isn't in more anime roles. Hopefully she gets more roles like Nakahara, who was the one I felt most sad for before her starting to get more lead roles 2-3 years ago.
Because really? It's Kuwashima who made like this stoic character so much that I like her more than the major 4 all in one episode, which is something considering I generally don't like that kind of character.

Finally watching this since CR has decent quality for it finally .
Ep 0 was pretty good, great mix of comedy, and insight into Ken, and Mafuyu's new voice seems to fit pretty well. Need more time to judge Chizuru's though.

Really makes me sad knowing that there's no more after this. I'm just curious as to what happens to them afterwards? Do they stay in touch? Does Ken eventually get his harem? It bugs me they leave it hanging. Hopefully the OVA will elaborate on some things.
This really was a great show, it was so funny and the characters are unforgettable. It will forever remain in my heart as one of the best comedies I've seen. |

Well watching the better visual quality helps. But sure doesn't help what appears to be the key problems. Losing the voices for Chizuru and Mafuyu hurts bad. Especially Mafuyu who is almost painful to listen to. Not that the voice itself is horrible, but clashes terribly with the ingrained knowledge of Mafuyu.
Episode 1 wasn't bad, but they could have used more references. The jokes seemed a little weak this time.

I was checking Wikipedia and I got really confused, could someone clear some stuff here:
1. There are 3 LN series, one if finished the other 2 ongoing. So are those 2 side stories? is the one finished, the main story? 2. how much of the main LN is covered by the 2 anime series? All of it or ... ? 3. And just wanted to say that SPOILERS are highly appreciated!!! Thanks guys |

Episode 2 & 3 were both great, and Chizuru's voice felt more right in a number of the scenes in 3, and I was glad to see Lilicia & Elise appear again in most hilarious way.
Though Ken just remembering that made me lose it I laughed way too hard , while all the future simulations of ep 3 were just brilliant.
