Berger comes over to Chaos presenting his theories while Roid does the same for Keith.

Berger thinks Songs are a weapon going over humanity's history with Minmay, Sharon Apple, Fire Bomber, Sheryl and Ranka. Guess he didn't watch George Yamamori's movie. It is likely some stuff about the Mayan island incident isn't on record or not fully declassified even after more than 50 years. He further speculates that the Protocculture made it so they can control the galaxy with songstresses. Berger also speculates Mikumo is an android. This is both a Macross Musiculture and Macross 30 reference. Human have the technology for artificial life they are called Cyberdroids. In Macross 30 Mina Forte not having all her memories wonder if she is some biological android created by the Protoculture.

Roid gives his theory why Windermereans are heirs of the Protoculture. Windermereans are fundamentally different from Terrans due to their Runes. Their Runes act more like Fold Quartz. This makes them special among all the other races created by the Protoculture. To him Wind Singers are proof of it.

I speculated this an episode ago because it's been continuously shown what Freyja does to Hayate while singing (the blue/red veins) and it's been a little bit different each time until last episode when the ruins amplified her singing abilities and he finally fell into "Var."

This episode pretty much reinforce the idea that music in Macross is inseparable from warfare. Macross is pretty much the only franchise in memory that doesn't go full-on pacifist mode, with protagonists I hate war every three seconds.

Though I facepalmed quite hard when Hayate said he was gonna end the war without killing (several, many episodes ago). There are so few episodes left and all I can think about is that this will need more time to fill the gaps.

It seems the love triangle has went to the next stage. This is the third time that Hayate has shown to be very thankful towards Mirage. And on the other side. Freyja seems to be starting to hesitate to sing to avoid hurting Hayate. Now speculations as the subs are to be released.

Spoiler for All romance in this series is pointless...:

On triangular business (because it's pathetic at this point), Freyja is scared to go into his hospital room and is very concerned about him; however, Mirage goes in later on in the episode and holds his hand while he regains consciousness. The problem is, it's solidifying Mirage is into Hayate; however, everything about this scene is friendly (from his view) and she is blushing like mad. Again, where in the world did her feelings come from? I kind of feel like this is a Luca and Nanase relationship (where he idolized Nanase in the beginning and she never noticed him or his feelings). It's very sad by this point in the series where her character is now defined by her feelings for him. Meanwhile, Freyja is concerned about her people (as is Hayate, who is ready to fly again right out of bed LOL ) and I believe next episode will cover them repairing what occurred in episode 18.

I'm sure Freyja will bounce back up by episode 22, since it's the episode where she does something very brave. Hell, it's even named Extreme Brave.

There were some episodes where she has shown to be annoyed/irritated when Hayate and Freyja were talking.

So Mikumo's a biological vocaloid. It seems the Protoculture created a whole series of these beings, as shown in this picture.

I disagree in this part. In Freyjas birthday episode he told Mirage what he sees in Freyja. In this same episode, when Freyja was singing, he also wanted to reach with his hands at her but then he pulled back. The only ones blushing are Freyja and Mirage. And it's Mirage arc that she is not able to show love affections, because she is not very fond to this feelings. Now, looking at all episodes, it seems that Hayate has been very thankful to Mirage. First was after their personal flight combat, second when he saved his butt on Ragna and third now in the hospital. From what I see is that Mirage and Hayates relationship is carefully build up that it looks dense compared to Hayate and Freyja. Freyja projects her feelings towards her songs. And Mirage... well, she is his wingman. Let's wait and see how this ends. For me it get's even because Freyja starts to hesitate now.

Spoiler for He does quite a bit of blushing around Freyja (and becomes of her too).:

And I strongly disagree, he does blush for Freyja quite a bit from episode 16 and 17.

First when he touches her rune.


Then when Arad comments on his gift to her.


And again in episode 17 when she's giving him "the look" like she's gonna confess, she's even blushing too.


He doesn't even blush for Mirage when she's nearly naked on his back in episode 14. I believe if Hayate is blushing for Freyja (who is never even close to naked around him) and not for a beautiful woman like Mirage who had breasts on his back, attraction is not there.

I don't know if I have any hope for her anymore, as a character or romantic interest because right now, she's little help for the plot of the series itself (who even Ranka had a plus on). I'll keep hoping she achieve something but I doubt it'll be Hayate, and if it is, it'd be coming out of nowhere on his side especially.
