I have just watched the 2 first eps and it's horrible.
They don't event start the story at the beginning of the manga but the town defense. Watching it at this point from the start doesn't make sense at all. The slime facial expressions was a selling point but in the anime it's horrible.

It's pretty terrible but the slimes are cute. I'll keep watching because there's nothing else on Mondays.

Yeah this was really bad, they skippef the hell out of it and I don't know about the LN but Yuji is soo different from the manga, this is another kirito copy...
The slimes are spot on with the voice but that's it. |

That's 2 out of 2 for this author's anime adaptations that the first part of the story got skipped(Weakest Crest was the other one). What's up with that? Just throwing us straight on the climax of an arc is not a way to start a story. If that was a cold open, then going back to the start the next episode would be the way but no, it just continued on the story with only the tiniest time to the start of the story, and in a dream nonetheless. No details of meeting Proud Wolf, the Dryad, getting registered to the Adventurer's guild despite the discrimination against Tamers, and the situation that led to the monster attack of the town. Sure there's the several mentions of the Blue Moon of Salvation as something ominous but having a plot without a solid foundation on the setting and the character is just bad.
I like the different artstyle when Yuuji is remembering his black company salaryman experience but it means nothing but just a random flashback like this. In the manga I like how he correlates the different experiences he encounters in this world to his previous life. Without his monologue or like, more words from him, he just comes off as bland overall. The slimes will definitely carry the show but as it is, it's just gonna be mediocre at best and just terrible at worst. |

As for the plot flow, it wasn't really that bad, they skipped like half-a-days worth of plot in the Anime, out of which they already covered half of it in Episode 2. They didn't change some aspects, like Yuji escaping after saving the Town, as in the Manga he goes to the next Town after the Guild Master informs him of it.

Yeah, there wasn't much grab to this one. It didn't look bad or really do anything terrible. But it just didn't have much appeal either. The army of slimes are amusing which is nice. But the main character just feels a bit too low energy. He's definitely doing things, but it doesn't feel like he's really engaged.
Sure comparing his fantasy situations to his old life is easy to pick up. But that's pretty surface level stuff. Will see if the next episode picks it up a bit. But not sure about that.

Reminds me a lot of the hero of that Ristarte series from a while back, really bland and boring, the slimes and the wolf are doing all the work here too, like Ristarte in that series.
If not for the slimes I wouldn't have bothered with the second episode, such a shame too, I really wanted to like this series, but I'm going to stick around for another episode before I decide.

I nearly always dislike it when the story skips ahead to an action scene or an H-scene right at the very beginning of the novel/manga/anime. The characters and story haven't been built up yet so I don't care what happens in the action or the H-scene. It's supposed to get me interested in the story quicker, but usually it just turns me off because it frequently ruins the development build up of the story and of the characters because I know too much about how things will proceed.
It's rare when skipping ahead makes me want to see/read the source more. It can't give away too much, but it still has to make me look forward to getting to that point. I assume this worked better as a novel because you could tell what he was thinking? |

Seems like it would be interesting if the MC had some kind of pets other other than slimes and a dog. I don't get the impression he's going to have a harem either. I'm thinking this is a 3 and out but I might give it another week considering the author of the source.

I'm surprised they're already getting into that blue moon stuff. Seems obvious Yuji is the one who was summoned, since he arrived exactly a week ago.

The Anime only skipped like initial 3-4 days of events after his arrival (more than half of which have already been showcased as Flashbacks).
