Seeing as this is a scenario for an alternate reality, closer to main seitenkan than the original series, though still distinct even from seitenkan, it wouldn't be any big problem to have this alt-Ryou having been the proud bearer of a shinai all along.

Given the fact that Taniguchi is a big Ryou fangirl, how would she respond to Kyonko being in the kendo club with him? Would she fight back with extreme jealousy or use that to her advantage to get closer to him?

Irrelevant to what I'm doing, I'm just curious.

I think she might try playing the 'best friends'-card in an effort to get close to Ryou. Kyonko would be her excuse to hover and talk to Ryou ... and she might try to get into the club through Kyonko if she gets really desperate about hooking up with Ryou.

Taniguchi: "Pleaaaaaase get me into the club, Kyon-chan! My life depends on it!"
Kyonko: "... Your life would end on the mat."
Taniguchi *shocked*: "Huh? My life?"

When I first read this idea, my first thoughts were of Setsuna from Mahou Sensei Negima, and then Motoko from Love Hina (and her sister!).

What I mean is the actual act of catching the sword, not the end result. Though an allusion to other works wouldn't be so bad. What if Yuuki accompanies Kyonko back home, again.

To be honest, I don't really see anything happening between Yuuki and Samurai Kyonko. Assuming warrior spirit and all that is in effect, she probably wouldn't take too kindly to someone barging in on a fight and telling her to sit on the sidelines.

Well obviously that'd still happen. I'm referring to the fact that after Yuuki unfreezes her in the original, he basically says "stay back and let me handle this." Really hard to say if Samurai Kyonko's pride would get in the way or not there

Well, if Yuuki says something to emphasize the notion that Ryou is a traitor against the IDE (and against Yuuki), then I think it would convince Kyonko that Yuuki has a more important reason to fight Ryou than just "protecting Kyonko". The attitude of "It is my personal duty to dispose of a traitor within my own ranks" would garner a lot more respect from a warrior-minded Kyonko.

Carefully reading Vol 9; Sasaki and Kyoko goes to different schools. Sasaki goes to a elite "suburban private school" with a good chance to get into universities. Sounds like Kouyoen, but she has to take a train far to get to school. (Apparently, Kyon's house is between North High and the main station. He could walk to school or cycle to the station, but it is more convenient to take a train from the stop at the bottom of the hill to the main station.)

It's doubtful Kuyoh actually attends Kouyoen despite wearing the uniform. (Baka-Tsuki mistakenly calls it Youkoen here) Though it'll be funny if she was Taniguchi's mysterious Christmas date.

We're forgetting the general equilibrium issue. Why would Samurai Kyonko interact with Obnoxious Delinquent Haruki, thus creating a reason for Ryou stabbing?

Also, Samurai Kyonko + Delinquent Kyonko = Tattooed Yakuza Kyonko?
