And yeah, I think a bump which directly disrupts another skater is judged more harshly than one that happens without any major effect.

The bump on Ohno in the 1000m had a pretty major effect in that it killed his momentum and the Koreans took advantage of it right away. I'm a bit surprised that Ohno was so frank about calling out the Canadian head referee, but his attitude about the incident was good otherwise.

However I do think he got in the finals not just because he was extremely lucky. Falls happen all the time in this sport. And yes when skaters fall it leaves spots open but it also creates obstruction for the other skaters. Apolo in the semi-finals managed to avoid (by skill) a pretty nasty fall.

When you get right down to it, Short Track really is a controversial sport, even moreso than figure skating imo (yes, I know everyone will disagree with me on that ). I think I said quite a few pages back somewhere that anything can happen in Short Track, so there is always (to some degree) a form of luck in that event.
Luck in that sport didn't just start with Ohno, it has always been there. And Looks like the Men's relay is up next oh joy I wonder what controversy is gonna happen now |

Well Katherine Reutter just made up for Apolo by winning a silver for US in the 1000.

Short Track almost reminds me of Debate tournaments.... so much depends on the mood and compentency of the judge that it is hard to take any of the rankings very seriously.

Well, the Canadians have about as close to a guarantee as you can possibly get to tying the single-games Gold medal record.
They should be the overwhelming favorites in Men's Team Pursuit in Long Track and Men's Curling, and they will almost certainly beat the US in hockey on Sunday. At least the Americans are pretty much guaranteed to set the single-games overall medal record at this point. We've got 34 now with the Bronze from Short Track Relay, so with Men's Hockey and Men's Team Pursuit in Long Track remaining, the US will tie (barring some catastrophe like the Men's Team Pursuit getting DQ-ed) the overall medal record.

Well congratulation to Canada for winning gold, so happy that at least Korea got silver. During the last lap I thought we might not get any medal, but still good result.
Overall all for Korea, 6 Gold, 6 Silver, 2 Bronze, three more than Torino. For a country that had 46 athletes this was a damn good result.
