That wouldn't really be possible. Eren's house is outside Wall Rose and overrun by titans. It would also take a long time to reach it and in that time more titans would spill in to Frost, making it more difficult to close the hole in the wall and it would also increase the likelihood the titans would succeeded in finding a way to breach Wall Rose. There is still the Armored titan who could show up at anytime.

Who is getting decimated, everyone has been evacuated or killed and the decoy team is on the wall? It's clear Eren's father wanted him to go to the basement to find out about all this and they start this major operation without proper knowledge.

That's exactly the opposite: they have no proper knowledge of what's going on outside of Wall Rose. As result, recklessly going to Wall Maria area to reach Eren's Father basement is a bad idea. And suffice to say, dispatching a platoon in a titan infested field is hardly possible for them, since it would leave Wall Rose with nearly no defense whatsoever.

Furthermore, the reason why they had to forsake Wall Maria was exactly because Shingashima Gate has been breached and not claimed back.
If Trost Gate is left wide open, titans will sooner or later overrun trost area and breaching Wall Rose, especially if the Armored and/or Colossal Titan show up once again.

They are racing against time: the longer they let Trost outter gate open, the more dangerous it will become regarding the integrity of Wall Rose, considering the back gate isn't as sturdy as the outter gate.

Eren's house is in another city miles away from Trost with a ton of titans between them and there (Judging by the distance and assuming they would have to go by horse, it would likely take days to reach Shiganshima). Considering that even the Scouting Legion was seen a couple of episodes ago dealing with titans not too far from the wall, getting from Rose to Maria can't possibly be an easy task and would require a ton of planning and preparation.

In the meantime they have titans spilling into Trost and god knows when the Armored or Colossal Titans could pop up again and take down the other wall. It's much smarter to plug up the hole and clean up Trost as soon as possible before things get even more complicated. The basement isn't going anywhere, however they don't know how long they have to plug up the hole but the longer it takes the harder it'll get and more people will die.

Oh and BTW, the walls are supposedly 50 meters tall and the tallest titans (with the exception of the colossal titan) are about 15 meters tall. Now notice that in one scene the titans are so high up from piling up on top of eachother that they can't be more than 10 meters away from reaching the top of the wall. Given enough time and grouping up, they might even be able to reach the top.

Another slow episode full of talking (but luckily the setting has been done and next episode should be full of epic battles.) This thread probably wont be that popular because of that, nothing like valvrave episode 10 thread thats closing to 500 replies i think? lol

Eren's situation sure is difficult, he had no choice but to agree to take this crazy mission. He wasnt even sure if he could control the titan and look what happened. Talking about Eren's titan, while other titans look more human like, Eren's is scary and demonic. I often call it a demon though others think it looks more like an elf.

Armin's strategy seems pretty good yeah? To lure the titans to the opposite side while Eren and a small group handle the rock. Though the problem is obviously the constant stream of new titans coming through the hole. Also it seems Erens titan power cannot be trusted at the moment. xD

Randrak mentioned the titans piling on each other on that side of the gate. Surely they are trying to destroy as many of them as they can with cannons? The Titans arent moving much a the moment so they should be able to do good damage.

Not an enjoyable eps at all. It was incredibly, super duper slow just like the previous one. Nothing much happened here aside of talk, talk, and more talk! I was particularly annoyed by Pixis constant speech which basically can be shortened into simple "Die here for others or run for your own life!" with some exaggeration that didn't make it any more better at all. That bespectacled woman, Riko, was also not any better, delivering the same boring speech that half-succeded in making me fall asleep.

I mean c'mon! I came here expecting for action! Good action! Awesome action! Incredible action! Whatever as long as it's action! Not some "Hey, let's make another cliffhanger by turning the entire eps into pool of talks" crap!

Nearly forgot to mention that the constant use of stills has succefully killed my enjoyment of this eps, shattering my built-up expectation of more improvement in animation Quality

Guess i should drop this show and marathon it few eps later. Better read the manga for the time being instead

Many people here stated the theory that Titan-Eren is defined by Eren's sub-concious. IF that is true, then what Riko said may be important to the plot as a Beserk-Off-Button.

Judging by the next episode preview, it looks like Arwin will be the one to do something with Titan! Eren.

I dunno, I feel that after many action packed episodes one or two slow passed ones are always good. Ton of action all the time becomes dull after a while.
But that might just be me.

Any speech, can boiled down to it's main points, doesn't mean it's not important especially comes to regaining moral and control of an army. Furthermore there is no exaggeration in there at all. If they fall do anything to stop Titans from overrunning Trost despite crazy risks involved, then they are all dead either by the Titans or their own Government pulling even more extremely measures to survive.

I bet the stuff in the basement are full of improved version of whatever Eren's father injected onto him. Then everyone can call super Titan form with them.

Or better yet, it's a book on how to defeat Titans - use range weapons and shoot the nape instead of melee!!!

Sarcasm aside, I really think 3D gear was introduced more for coolness then practical tactics. Otherwise it wouldn't be as hopeless a situation and story wouldn't be as gripping. The basement prob has info on the origin of the Titans and enough info on them to allow humans to devise a better way to combat them.

Well not that surprised the episode ended like that. Just way too much distracting him from what he needs to do. With the first transformation it was simple. Kill the Titans! He was pissed and his rage was specifically targeted. Here he had the need to be a symbol, that "people are going to die for you" crap from Riko, and his constant conflict with Mikasa. Eren may have been telling himself he had to make this succeed, but his mind was full of crap that didn't need to be there at such a critical time.

I wouldn't be surprised if his attacks are completely focused on Mikasa. This relationship has been strained for a long time. Mikasa doesn't get where Eren's frustration is coming from and Eren just doesn't understand Mikasa period. At that moment I think he was more pissed at her than the Titans.
