I think only the Exia has those kind of beam sabers and just a pair of them and it is the only one that would throw a beam saber, but yes they must somehow function without direct contact with the gundam, at least for some minutes.

Nope. ALL the Gundams in 00 have beam sabers, they come with the modelkits. It's just that Exia has the most reason to use them. Lockon used one against Graham.

Beam sabers have reliability issues, so the Gundams don't use them as the main weapons.

I still find it hard to believe they are siblings. The closest that i m willing to go to believe they are related by blood while still sharing the same last name is if they had different mothers or fathers. i.e being half-brothers/sisters, they either all had the same fathers but different mothers or vice versa.
