To Heart - the original one not the second series. It's a superbly paced and a feel good slice of life Anime.
Azumanga Daioh - they are cute and funny, plus they stories are in short segments. many would suggest Hidamari Sketch (but sadly i have not watched it) |

Nodame Cantabile (manga, anime, live action) - nice slice of life about an anal retentive musical student that falls in love with opposite, a clutsy and messy muscial student. Very sweet and very charming romance. Any medium (manga, anime, or live action) of the story is good.

You might want to try Nanoha. It's Mahou Shojo, so it's right in line with most of what you've watched.
As for slice of life, in addition to Azumanga Daioh (as already suggested), you might want to try out Aria. Manabi Straight is also something you might want to try if you get the chance. |

I agree with Aria the Animation/Natural/ORIGINATION Slice of life at it's best imho.
And another one to the list Lamune Also a softhearted Slice of life with some cute moments.

Except for Higurashi I'd say you're big on comedy and comedy/romance, without a hate for magical girl. That said I'll second Nanoha and Nodame Cantabile.
For slice of life, I will second Manabi Straight because it's one of the best of the genre (in my opinion, of course). I haven't seen Aria yet, so I can't recommend or compare with it. I've heard many good things about it though. For a mix of everything possible, I'll recommend Clannad.

Here's a bunch that will keep you occupied for a while!
unlicensed: Dennou Coil (complete) Shion no Ou (current) Ghost Hound (current) REC (complete) Asatte no Houkou (complete) licensed Angelic Layer Noein Twelve Kingdoms Saiunkoku Monogatari (if Geneon ever releases it) Seriei no Moribito (another treasure in Geneon limbo) Mahou Shoujo Tai Arusu (just licensed; won't be out for a while) I've watched many of the other series mentioned above, and they're all good choices, too. My recommendations run more toward strong female protagonists, a feature shared by all* these shows. Most of these have links in my signature with more info. Enjoy! ____________________ *I'm including Miyako-chan as the representative from Ghost Hound!

it's important to note that Nanoha isn't really a magical-girl anime. It's closer to sci-fantasy action.
It eschews the typical slice-of-life and romance elements in favor of massive magical battles, over-the-top fight scenes and general badassery. It will ruin the magical-girl genre for you, and forevermore you will be sad and despondent hoping for a new magical girl to somehow top Nanoha's badassery, yet never witnessing such a feat take place. |
