a second to blood+ and hellsing... blood+ in particular has a lot to do with the troubles of immortality..

vampire knight is currently ongoing, it seems pretty cool as well. mm i think all the characters whove said more than 2 lines are immortal in this one
mm i know ive given this recommendation to everyone in the last couple of days but.. higurashi.. the main character isnt exactly immortal.. well.. though he/shes lived for a long time.. but.. ah what the heck, im not going to go deeper into it

I think he wanted an anime that actually that involved "inmortality" as an issue / problem.
Bleach, Naruto, DGB have "inmortal" characters simply because they try to avoid the dying issue cause of the kids watching it.

Are you trying to belittle my childhood and teenage classics such as DB/DBZ/DBGT? GRRRRR

Fyi there are very emotional times when people die in naruto so "they try to avoid the dying issue cause of the kids watching it" doesnt fit the bill sir. But keeping strategically created characters alive in a story is normal right?

The truth is bleach is really a modern take on the DB/DBZ/DBGT method and yes i find it boring from titme to time. Damn i wish i was younger so i can ignore the recyceld flavors. I still enjoy watching it but with the fastforward option used more.

I got the idea that Bleach, Naruto, DBZ (sorry i dont know what DGB is so i'm assuming you are talking about DBZ) use immortal characters to convey the idea of really poweful beings (similiar to beings from alot of asian myths, folklore, and concepts) doing adventureous stuff and fighting off evil (supervillians?). And that is why Goku can take out a planet with his chi with little effort because some bad guys in that show have the ability to destroy existence (some can destroy the universe easily). This concept created a confilct in a grand scale to stimulate the story which really captivates the dreamer inside a lot of us.

Utawarerumono. I can't explain it without it being a huge spoiler. I feel like I've said too much already.
Spoiler for Utawarerumono:

I'll second Utawarerumono and Mnemosyne. My only problem with Mnemosyne is that the episodes take FOREVER to come out because they come out monthly.
