RedFrame's location is given as Malaysia, which has a population of Malays, Indians, and Chinese, and its official religion is Islam. The female interviewer part might not happen, though, without knowing more about the school(s) hiring. RedFrame should have a better understanding for proper business behavior when talking with people in his culture who are also senior to him. Cheers
if muslim with muslim ,we usualy shakehands and greet "Assalamualikum" and the other person will reply "Waalaikumussalam".and yes man and woman cannot shake hands together we only greeet each other.
if it were non muslim, shake hand and greets each other formally..

and to add the detail about interview.. there's actualy two interview i need to pass, individualy and then group interview.

Well, most places'll do an interview with one person then bring more of the team in, to see how everyone interacts. I mean, if you can't get along in an interview, you probably won't get along at work either

That makes sense. The Malaysian students whom I know were usually engineering students with a few science majors. An education degree from, say, a US or EU school would probably not do a soon-to-be teacher in the Malaysian school system.

I usually associate group interviews with positions where either time or people are difficult to come by - like, say, when you have a lot of people to interview, not enough interviewers, and etc.; for a teaching position, maybe they also want to see if you can handle being in front of an audience, which you will be if hired, and if fellow teachers feel if they can work with you?

Note: I haven't done a group interview (on either side of the interviewing table) since looking for my first job out of college.

Off the top of my head, unless the interview lasts longer than an one-on-one interview, you might well get fewer questions per interviewer in the group interview, so each one would, IMHO, be more important to get "right" and to convince the person to not ding you immediately. That is, you will need to think more carefully, which you should already be doing, about what and how to answer each question before actually answering.

You might want to watch yourself more carefully also. With only one interviewer in the room, a mistake might not be caught by the guy, but with more than one person facing you - and the others are watching also - that's not likely to happen.

OTOH, you might not be drilled in depth on stuff in a group interview. If you're pretty junior in work experience, IMHO, they're likely to be more interested in your potential and fit at this point.

Do you know anyone who went through this process in the past, and can get him to provide some advice or helpful pointers as well?

A bit of nervousness won't kill you. Just get a good night's sleep and breakfast, and make sure that you set your alarm clock and/or get someone to wake you up in time to get to the place.

Okay, looking at this thread's info, this looks to be more like an entrance exam than the job interviews/process that I'm familiar with?

18 secs per question? Can't be too difficult, I would imagine, or no one would be able to finish in time. Don't know how the scoring is done, but if you have to and can skip - that is, if you won't be penalized (or too badly) - I would do so - as long as you come back later and answer those questions. The "coming back" bit is important.

And test your ability to construct a persuasive argument, most likely. Shouldn't be too hard as long as you don't lose track of your point.

Again, it sounds like it'll be another test to see if you can make a persuasive argument along with - most likely - a way to see if you are up-to-date with current events and have and can persent your opinions. Don't lose sight of what you're trying to say, go wandering all over the place, and don't get too nervous.

This can be scary, IMHO. Don't forget that you are at an interview, stay on guard, and watch what you say. I would also recommend:

1. Be honest (but also don't forget you're trying to win a spot so if the guy is trying to push you a bit by asking you questions that are... umm, annoying, don't get rattled),

2. focus on your interviewer (the one who asked the question), but if it's in a group, don't forget to draw the other guy(s) in also by splitting your attention among everyone.

3. Don't answer the questions immediately, IMHO, but take a few seconds to think through them first and ask for clarification if you aren't sure what is being asked. It depends a lot on what's being asked, but it's usually a good idea.

nice link but i have never seen it before

Safely got home after the interview ....

The group interview arent going well and personal interview is also a bit stunning.
Question that realy make me clueless-
- Five reason why we must choose you ..-
Im only able to give one reason since bragging and lying wasn't my field ....
and after that i realy look like stupid (damn it ! i know i should just talk big there....)

Well, i must say , first time always suck
but im realy lucky to have nice interviewer and nice group members.tension still there but its nothing actually .

There is also question that made me less tension-
interviewer:what issues/news in education that you know ?
me: Student dicipline problem
interviewer: example?
me: ... student beating up teacher with dustbin ......(Its true and realy did happen )
interviewer:So .. do you realy want to beat by your own students with dustbin ? Arent you scared ?
me: ..... no .....( i dont want to beat by my own student and yes im scared )
all that i can do after that is small laugh and even the interviewer laugh too

Anyway thank to everyone guide ,i dont feel very nervous while the interview and able to adopt with the environment quickly

50 Common Interview Q&a

I know there are a LOT of 20 somethings that post at AnimeSuki.com and for that reason, I break my nails for this post. I stumbled across this list of 50 common interview questions and I thought it would do some of you good to read this list. It's rather comprehensive and very useful. You should really ask yourself these questions (or at least some of them) before you enter an interview. This guy has thought this list out well.

I'll post a few here, but do yourself good and read the rest.

Quote:
50 COMMON INTERVIEW Q&A

1. Tell me about yourself:
The most often asked question in interviews. You need to have a short
statement prepared in your mind. Be careful that it does not sound
rehearsed. Limit it to work-related items unless instructed otherwise.
Talk about things you have done and jobs you have held that relate to
the position you are interviewing for. Start with the item farthest
back and work up to the present.

2. Why did you leave your last job?

Stay positive regardless of the circumstances. Never refer to a major
problem with management and never speak ill of supervisors, co-workers
or the organization. If you do, you will be the one looking bad. Keep
smiling and talk about leaving for a positive reason such as an
opportunity, a chance to do something special or other forward-looking
reasons.

3. What experience do you have in this field?
Speak about specifics that relate to the position you are applying for.
If you do not have specific experience, get as close as you can.

4. Do you consider yourself successful?
You should always answer yes and briefly explain why. A good
explanation is that you have set goals, and you have met some and are
on track to achieve the others.

5. What do co-workers say about you?
Be prepared with a quote or two from co-workers. Either a specific
statement or a paraphrase will work. Jill Clark, a co-worker at Smith
Company, always said I was the hardest workers she had ever known. It
is as powerful as Jill having said it at the interview herself.
