Naruto x Naruto action is hot, the joke funny (if a bit predictable), and the action good.

Good episode. This is why the canon is so much better than filler. I feel like it was 20 min well spent.

Side Note: The OP and ED are very good. I actually watch them- and I've seen them both before!

Well, I'm glad that he finally accepted himself for all that he is.
The unavoidable flashbacks again.

Wow this is the naruto I enjoy most. Talk about cliff hanger. Next ep should be very interesting and who was that red head at the end? We saw his dad inside him before, but what about his mom? Can it be?

my sentiments exactly! it feels like there hasn't been an hour special in ages and this would have been the perfect time. back when shippuden first came out they were pretty frequent. and I don't just mean double episodes. I miss the specials where there was a running theme throughout the breaks. as good as this episode was, it really left me wanting another right away

That Naruto vs Naruto thing felt like an afterthought because the dark Naruto never previously showed up. Seemed like a random addition to extend the plot line if you asked me.

Whether that's the case or not, it's perfectly reasonable that Naruto would have at least a bit of resentment in him after the crap he went through as a kid. And now was as good a time as any to deal with that.

he never previously showed up because only the waterfall of truth can manifest a person's hatred in this way. naruto's lingering hatred for the villagers who shunned him has always been there, just buried deep. seeing it for the first time in such a way doesn't mean that it wasn't there or is an afterthought.

we can see this hatred manifest in the demon fox cloak throughout the series: when he fought deidara and went 2 tails, when he fought orochimaru and went 4 tails and when he fought nagato and went 6 and 8 tails it was always this bit of hatred that the kyuubi latched onto. we just didnt see an anthropomorphic representation of that hatred until now

Now this is an episode that you think it wasn't a waste of time. Next weeks episode is going to be awesome.
Trying to control a nine-tail'd beast looks really hard o.o I want to know how Killer Bee felt like when he was trying to control the Octopus.
