I don't have issues with having an OTP, but it's the unfair sex and het is ew mentalities that really piss me off.

The problem is that it all comes down to preference, sadly. That's one thing that's very hard to change, especially when people really like a pairing.

The point is you're not supposed to be trying to change their preference, just as they have no right to force their own preferences on you.

I think you might be confusing people. For me, personally, I don't care about Yuuno/Vivio or Hayate/Vivio. Everyone should be free to write the pairings they want, especially in a series like this where there are so many open doors and no real relationships are confirmed (I still love you Chrono/Amy!).

There are irrational fanatic shippers in every fandom, and if you even slightly mess with the One True Pairing, you risk their eternal wrath. These people have gotten so emotionally attached to the couple, it's like they are really in love with it, and thus a slight against them, is a deeply personal attack on them.

That's just not healthy, so I'd caution against you getting attached to any particular couple. They aren't real people, and while they can entertain, they shouldn't be the cause of negativity.

Plus, being so many women in this series, is gonna attract the Yuri fans, and the fanboys in particular(if I support the yuri fangirls, and even pretend to be a girl, then other girls will like me, yay!). Het is gonna suffer. Personally, I like a balance, which is why I'm writing some het and some yuri in my fics, but there are a lot of people who can only see yuri.

This is not a slight against every yuri fan, just the more fanatical ones that you can't reason with and who breathe fire at you if you so much as disturb the holy sanctity of their lesbian goodness. There are many *good* yuri fans in this fandom, too, like RB, Satashi, and many others.^^

I'm not saying you should.

I'm saying that in the end, people will like what they like regardless of what you say or do about it. It's hardly fair to ride them on it if it's something they like, even if it doesn't appeal to you.

But I suppose I should apologise for derailing the thread. I think the real cause of this is just me being jealous that everyone is showing support for something when I've done something similar and it doesn't cross anyone's minds. Sorry.

The insane popularity of NanoFate used to baffle me, but, as time has gone by I've become less resistant to it. I don't go along with it, but I'm not opposed to it either. Considering the high proportion of fan art being NanoFate, it's kinda' hard to ignore after a while.
