Calm Asian Music

Hello. Im Looking for some calm/meditation music from the areas located in asia. It seems to be hard to find any good artists out there. Im looking for the kind of music that was in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Hero.

Help appreciated.

You can try "Pili" series?
Well...... some tracks from Pili series are calm.

Official Website, unfortunately........ only the main page and some minor pages have English.... the rest are Chinese only.

Contemporary classical or pre-modern?

You can try some of Tan Dun's other stuff (he composed the score for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). Toru Takemitsu is an intriguing blend of traditional Asian and European avant-garde.

*edit: Also you might want to search for instrumental compilations (e.g., Chinese Music for the Pipa).

There's this group of Chinese girls called 'Jyoshi Juuni Gakubou' (in Japanese, I'm not sure about the Chinese name) that play some awesome music. In case you've never heard of them, it is a group of twelve girls playing traditional asian music in multiple styles. They're awesome.

You could try Joe Hisaishi and Kunihiko Ryo (esp. "Yomogi Yama Enkei - Kokyu Memories" from Juuni Kokki).
