Well, most of it. The stuff with the splats and the squishy noises yes, but eventually it turns into weeks before when he's on a train returning home after the funeral. You wouldn't believe how many times I've gone over that scene when I'm editing it.

Not for the question arcs. Instead there is an お疲れさま会 where the characters gather at (Angel Mort?) as if they finished filming a script, commenting on the story in general. Since everyone was only playing a role, they do not know their role's true intentions either. Umineko Naku koro ni is also following a somewhat similar pattern with their Tea Party.

Additionally, there are Backstage Staff rooms for Higu Kai Chap 06~09 which can be accessed by clicking on the logo at the end of Ryukishi's letters (usually on the although this is different for 08 & 09, iirc). You can only access these for the CD for that chapter. So the Minagoroshi CD can give you access to the Minagoroshi backstage staff room, and the Matsuribayashi CD can only give you access to Matsuribayashi's backstage staff room. These are extremely silly straying far off topic but you get commentary not only from Ryukishi, but from the other members in the 07th Expansion circle such as bt or Dai.

I have a quick question. I hope I can be clear on this.

I recently started watching the 2nd season. Should've I have watched the first series or does the 2nd series pretty much sum up what wasn't explained in the first season?

I'm enjoying it. And it's creepy. I had always wondered what the whole deal with knives and "killer lolis" was all about.

Yes, you need to see the first series --- it is necessary to watch this before the second season. You need to see each arc, and what happens to truly understand, and appreciate the second season.

Ah ok, thanks. No cliff notes for 'Higurashi' here. I'll do that.

Yeah, stop watching the second series NOW and get back to watching the first season. With some luck you haven't spoiled the whole show for you yet
Really, Higurashi is a show that slowly unveil it's secrets, and by now most of them have been revealed and they are exposed under the spotlight. If you value Higurashi's mistery element at all restrain yourself from watching any more second season episodes. What's more, leave the show for a whole year and hope that by then you have forgotten most of what you've seen.

Was it? I thought the first time at Angel Mort was Shion.

Mion dressed as Shion when she gave him the food the second time Keiichi and Shion met.

No, it is surely Mion the first time in the angel mort.
First, Shion isn't the kind of girl being timid because of her outfit, even if she meets Keiichi for the first time (as she shouldn't be embarassed anyway)
The second clue is probably how "Shion" looked at Keiichi when he left the angel mort for the first time, which was similar to how Mion looked at Keiichi later on.

Granted, the anime messed up this part, as keiichi claimed "so, the first time was really shion, and the shion who gave me the bento is Mion..." (Especially Shion wasn't supposed to be exposed just after the "biker incident". The "shion who was fierce" was indeed Mion)

In fact, Shion has really shown herself after the doll incident (as result of her discussion with mion), and invited him in a dessert fiesta while she was supposed to work.

In the manga, it is much more clear that Shion met keiichi for the first time only after the "Angel mort defense" with the lecherous nerds.

Now I'm confused.

Why would Mion be dressed as Shion at Angel Mort when she's supposed to be helping her uncle at the Toy Shop?

She only said that she had to help her uncle. She didn't say which one

Refer to Who are Mion's uncles and what do they do? TIPS

There are also times the twins must switch even if the Sonozaki issues are already done (especially shown in episode 10, with Kimiyoshi).
I guess it is more like Shion wants to have a break with the Angel Mort or she has other things to do. Mion doesn't actually have a constant part-job as seen in both seasons, and this TIPS.
So seeing her helping Shion isn't something surprising. (and that certainly explains "Shion's uneasiness")

Then it gets even more confusing when you find out that
Mion's real name is Shion and Shion's is Mion
