Spoiler for my imagining of the IS world if Ichika wasn't there.:

In a world where women are superior, men are only second class now. In the past, women were oppressed and things weren't so bright and cheery as they are now for them. But for men, these are rather dark times. There aren't any beatings, there isn't any oppression. Instead, there is a sense of dislocation.

The day's society has left many males cast out of the social strata. The best they can afford to become are workers and secondary management. Those who've been in power since before the social upheaval retained power, mostly because it was they who caused the social upheaval. Those left out by this upheaval now roam the streets as good for nothings. They exist, not live. Education, food, water, sustenance. They are afforded all these like any other person, but oppurtunities to excel themselves and reach a potential they should have is passed over to women, even if the apttitude shows a great deficit between the two.

The world in this society now, is no longer a world where there is abuse, it's not a time where people go around causing riots because of abuse in power. But it's a world that's wrought with inner chaos. A time where crimes have risen to an all time high with juvenile delinquents raising the banner. In this world, men no longer know who they are, where they should be or what their purpose is. Those wh do can count themselves lucky as their life still holds meaning.

Basically what happens in Sacred Twins' backstory, except mine is less philosophical and went straight to hell due to the rule of angst.

EDIT: Age also theorized the same, the loss of identity is the biggest, nastiest abuse the men receive.

Sideswipe bellowed at the moment the IS ripped Alex’s body into two.

The IS tossed the 2 half pieces of Alex’s body aside, with a very annoyed look on her face.

“Sheesh, she couldn’t even handle a small group of kids…”

“?”

A sharp ‘claw’ appeared behind the IS, giving that full appearance of your typical IS. Only this time it has spider ‘arms’, comprising the same ominous matching colors of yellow and black, each having a blade like tip.

“Damn it! Ratchet, help Hawkeye out. Scourge, get Sideswipe to safety and then cover him, Ratchet and Hawkeye. Hot Shot, we’ll buy them some time.”

Shockwave pulled out his Rocket Launcher. While my brothers and I are doing as we’re told.

“You must be foolish to think you can take on an IS. Especially like that.”

“We’ll see about that. And don’t people here in Japan introduce themselves upon first meeting?”

“Might as well. The name’s Ayako. Ayako Makigami, but you can call me ‘Autumn’.”

I primed my Saber and aimed it at Autumn.

“What is it that you’re after?”

“That is none of your concern. Now… take this!”

The 8 arms deployed the tips, revealing cannons and began to aim straight at me.

“Oh, shit!”

I made a sudden dodge to avoid the energy blast from the cannons, but not without sliding on the floor.

“Not bad…”

I got myself up, as I aimed my Saber at her.

“Why you…”

I fired my Saber at her, and she began to charge at me.

Dadadadadadadadadadadada…

As I’m firing my Saber at her, she got closer and closer while deflecting each shot with her 8 arms.

“Pathetic…”

*Dadadadada—kic kic kic…*

Shit…

By the time I was about to reload, she was ready to thrust one of her arms.

*Phshew* *Klang*

I deployed both of my forearm mounted combat blades and deflect Autumn’s arm away. Upon noticing this, she made a slight grin on her face.

“Oh, my… This is going to be fun…”

She then began to swing and thrust all 8 of her blade tipped arms at me.

“Tch…”

I tried to back away from her to gain some distance, but she just kept on closing in.

*Shew* *Kling* *Klang*

Jumping, dodging, diving, cart wheeling; all I can do at this point is just stay on defense and avoid and deflect her arms away.

This’ll turn to shit if this keeps up…

“Heh…”

She swung one of her arms low and sideways.

“Ugh!...”

I was swept off balanced and fell on the ground. I struggled to get back up but Autumn was already poised to strike her arms down as I tried to regain my balance.

“Time to finish it! Hya-a-a-a-ahh!”

“Hot Shot!”

*BOOM!*

*Shephew*

“Ga-agh!”

I felt pain from the area of my left eye, blood coming out. I felt how extent of the wound was; it was from the top of my left eye brow, cutting downwards across my left eye, ending right next to my nose.

I tried to cover the wound, but blood kept on flowing out, obscuring my vision. As I tried to regain my bearings, I spotted Shockwave, Rocket Launcher in hand with smoke coming out of the barrel.

Realizing where that attack came from, Autumn then turned towards Shockwave, deployed her arm tips on to cannons and aimed it at him.

But before the two engaged into combat, a sudden flash of light was emitted from Shockwave…

@zero: That's just putting it lightly. Basically, the world is divided into normal society and the displaced society. The displaced society also has wmen but very few. Also, women in the displaced society have it a lot worse. First off because the men in the displaced society may abuse them; second, because they are considered incapable as both IS pilots and as workers, they lose absolutely all meaning in life.

Spoiler for a world in IS that may exist beyond our knowledge.:

The protagonist in such a world would know about the two societies. I imagine If Ichika were set in such a world, he'd be too sheltered under the protection of Chifuyu, so he'll probably be the padowan instead of the protagonist. The meeting between the protagonist and one of the girls would be random, a twist of fate if you would.

The girls sees a boy stealing and try to catch him, but they can't. He's much faster and craftier than they assumed and he gets away. By the time the girls lose the boy, they realize they're in an unfamiliar part of town, the dislocated part.

The residents don't take too kindly to them, especially when the girls make the mistake of saying they are IS pilots. The girls are attacked and they fight back. The girls are winning but that's only on the surface. The men seem to keep picking themselves back-up and their ranks just seemed to keep growing. The protagonist swoops in and distracts the mob enough for the exhausted girls to run.

He tells them to leave and they don't comply, asking what was wrong with those people. One of them asks how they could keep fighting like that, as if they were going to kill themselves. The protagonist explains that they may as well be dead. He explains the situation of those dislocated in society and tells them that those people no longer have a sense of life or death. Lost sheep who turn rabid for the gratification of direction; not even direction, just to satisfy the feeling that they are alive, needs and wants that escape the physical are what they crave. It varies from people to people but for those men, it was probably the need to be superior.

The protagonist tells them again to return with the added warning of never coming back again.

EDIT: Wait, it's different. You gave more insight on the inverted society as a whole. However if 'Displaced society' really exist, wouldn't everyone knew? Or they just kept being silent?

They ignore it. I took the concept from the women's planet of Megele in Vandread. With women mostly spear heading society's future, they only focus on the good and tend to ignore everything bad that's happening. Of course there are activists here and there, but they are so sparing and few that they are viewed as irrelevant. No one ever talks about the displaced society, very few are aware there is even such a thing. Even amongst those part of the displaced society, they don't realize they are part of it until someone points it out.

Not all in the displaced society are bad. However even those who haven't succumb to basic urges of need succumb to the hopelessness of their situation. For example, a doctor in the displaced society who is actually running a small practice. He has the skills and the drive to help people, however because of society his great abiities are now limited to a small area. You may urge him to go to a larger hospital to be a greater help but he'd jst laugh and politely refuse "I've tried more times than I can count. But it just doesn't work that way anymore."

I forgot to mention. This story is where all IS pilots are absolutely female. The girls end up being curious and start to care about this displaced society. Ofcourse being people of practically another world, they don't understand, that's where the protagonist would come in, as their guide.

On the flipside, the girls try to bring the boy into the society where IS is a prominent figure. In here, it's the girls who always have to bail the protagonist out

Incidentally, I stopped being optimistic about anime after watching Gundam SEED and CLANNAD. Before that, I only watch Macross and Gundam for mindless mecha action, disregarding plot and character, much less politics.

What I meant is not everyone has happy ending, only few that tries hard to earn it, and even then the hardship is utterly heartwrenching.

clannad was good, but how it ended was sort of meh for me. And the heartwrenching issues beyond Kotomi's seemed more like a cosmic troll was at work more than anything.

I lost faith in anime when Naruto finished the valley of the end arc. I just scrounge up small gems from the seasonal anime nowadays.

Yes, weird, she is a sniper, and a sniper only has two kind of weapon: their sniper rifle and backup weapon, be it knifes, Pistol, or SMG, or a combination thereof. Dual wielding is not good for accuracy, no matter if the I.S. handles it, recoil still present and two-handed wielding always more efficient.

Unless you're talking about switch between two rifles, then it's less egregious. Madoka has 2 rifles in Gospel arc, 1 .223-cal hypervelocity coil rifle and a bog standard .565-cal semi-auto rifle.

Well she'll only dual wield them on occasion. Both of them are compatible with the phalanx bits to change into various kinds of rifles. The second is mostly treated as a back-up rifle.

I'm also imagining that instead of having the phalanx bits attatched to the rifle from the start, they are instead attatched to the 4 larger Blue Tears units. The glass strctures are now small energy condensers(like in gundam 00) instead of making up a large part of the structure.

Basically Cecilia goes from SEED Destiny to 00
