A lot of years reading manga and watching anime tells me that your are correct.

What Kishimoto said must not be taken for sure, because every single mangaka knows that the last word on their works came from editors and they are who manage the work.

-Oh, Kishimoto has no problem stating who is in a relationship with whom (take for instance Minato and Kushina). He is very competent in presenting relationships that have been going on for years (like those involving adults). What he has problems with lies in developing them. I mean, even Asuma and Kurenai's relationship was denied confirmation (even though we could have guessed) at the start and then abruptly confirmed upon Asuma's demise. All he ever does is throw hints on a relationship but he never says it outright, hence why we have a 114 page of discussion on Naruto's love life. If he finally grows a pair and actually presents a "mutual and developed" relationship between Naruto and *Insert lucky recipient name (cough*Sasuke*cough)* then I'll remove 3 inches of my vertibre, curl my spine back and eat my own ass

It depends... there is a whole department called "shoujo romance manga" who actually sells quite well (Ichigo 100%, School Rumble, etc). Naruto belongs to "action shounen manga", we are talking about WSJ, just take a look on its titles of action shounen manga and you couldn't find any "romance per se" in those titles.

Kishi (or editors) will do the same thing they are doing until now... the talking between Yamato and Sakura, were NaruSaku's shippers were about to sing victory, or the one sided Hinata's love declaration, were NaruHina's shippers just came

Take Bleach, SS arc was all about Ichigo and Rukia, take HM arc, all is about Ichigo and Orihime.

Both Kishi and Kubo are young mangakas, they will stay besides what editors think will sell, they work for Jump, not backwards.

I would have to say no. Although it is a romance that has been going on for a long time, but they're just not fit for each other. Naruto would be better off with Hinata.

It's all about wishful thinking, looking for personal taste. How do you decide if NaruSaku fits or not?... how do you decide if Naruto is better with Hinata?.

That's why i don't confront. I just cheer for Naruhina and i'm happy that way. Shipping is serious business. Too much serious for me.

I hope Naruto ends up with Hinata, tbh. I don't mind Sakura at all, but Hinata suits Naruto and she LOVES him.

Well NaruSaku is one of the ships that actually have a basis, so it's possible.
It's also one of the pairings, I personally would like to see the most. I like them both, seperately and together, it's just entertaining to watch them

If he wasn't he wouldn't have brought it up in the middle of the big baddie fight - and with that much emphasis, too. I don't think NaruHina is sealed with this, but it became a reasonable possibility. Now the one she likes KNOWS that she does. Basicly she's just the same as Sakura or Naruto (he didn't actually confess his love, but he at least is advancing Sakura at times to show his affections) now. On even ground so to say. Naruto now actually has the chance to see her in a different light and to get to know her. Or it's the time for Hinata to have a closure with her feelings (what no other characters has done yet). Her confession is a sign for me that Kishi either wants to develop the Naru-Hina bond or to bring Hinatas feelings to a closure. It's one or the other, since I can't imgine him bringing something up like this without getting back at it at some point. The scene was thrown into the middle of the main plot after all, BIIIIG for shonen I'm just going to watch what Kishi has up his sleeve, since my favor for a pairing always differ from the progression of the series So regarding NaruSaku, Hinata's confession is important because it could either make way for it or pull Naruto into another ship.
