Lol, Kyon's life sure is getting a lot of energy thanks to Haruhi. Is it just me or does one of her poses look similar to Kongou?
Although humor still feels a bit odd at times imo, the show is pretty funny.

Ah, there's Kyon's ponytail fetish again. A lot more energy now that Haruhi has joined the club, and brought Koizumi with her. Its nicer to see an enthusiastic Haruhi without a club that's (mostly) made up of members who are there to keep her happy.
As well as a rival for Nagato. Looks like they added in a flashback maybe (were those shorter ribbons glimpsed for a moment?). And so they got Haruhi's proclamation right, with sliders being mentioned, I forget if the manga listed them all or not. |

Haruhi still the poster girl for chaotic neutral I see
I do love her energy and shear nerve, walking into another school to join a club, and by join we mean declaring herself executive president. It was interesting to see how alot of the old dynamics were reintroduced, with Asahina becoming a designated kidnap victim and Kyon complaining about how annoying and impossible Haruhi is (through we know he's falling under her spell ) The differences however is Tsuruya is more part of the club than previously and Asakura seems to be the voice of reason. However the big difference is Nagato, she's no longer passively sitting in the corner with a book for the most part, she being whacked over the head by Haruhi's charisma, even if she's getting worried about Kyon interest's going elsewhere.... I want more! |

The introduction of Haruhi into the series has made things a lot more fun. Let face it, Yuki is cute, but she's boring. Someone like Haruhi is needed to bring energy into the show, no matter how annoying she might be (I'm actually pretty ok with it so far).

And with the return of Haruhi, the series comes well and fully alive. Two episodes of Yuki Nagato was interesting, but she can't carry the show on her own. Now, with Haruhi here, hopefully, Kyon's memorable snark will return in full and fine form.
Shame we aren't getting Haruhi Season 3 - but with Haruhi's return, it's a welcome alternative. Also, was there a reference to Snowy Mountain Syndrome, in this episode? Finally, Valentine's day next episode? This seems to imply that Winter would over within a few more episodes at most. |

This was a good ep to be sure. I am greatly enjoying the different spins on the characters as well as their describing some of the reasons for the variation. It is also nice to have a more expamded cast in the Lit Clubroom.
Yes, Haruhi catalyst is a nice addition, but the main focus thus far for me is still Nagato. ^^

I have to agree that Haruhi's energy just adds a lot to the overall entertainment level.
I could have sworn Haruhi read Kyons mind at one point (about 14 minutes in). It was like a lot of scenes in the main series when someone would respond to what appeared to be Kyon's inner monolougue. But back then they always made sure we could not see his face during those scenes to create that sensation of "Did I just say that out loud?". I actually really liked that element, which was very true to the style of the light novels, so I appreciate the callback. But we got a pretty clear view of his face here and it sure did not look like he was talking. Am I just overthinking this? |
