Very late into finishing this anime. Should have finished it last year.
Watched 19-23 today, and the episodes are good. Spoiler for Episode 23:
Just one more episode. I hope for a happy ending..

Those were the letters that Kujo wrote to Victorique when he was fighting in the war. They never managed to reach her because they kept on getting intercepted, but Roger kept them safe and handed them all to her.
Man, it sure had been a while ... it's been a little more than a year now hasn't it? I still remember the best parts about this series being Yuuki Aoi as Victorique (without a doubt her breakthrough role and the one that I think showed her strengths as a VA) and being generally really fun to watch. Really liked it a lot. Also Victorique beating people with desks was pretty fun.

@Arabesque
Thanks. That's useful info. I thought those papers Roger gave to Victorique are cash for ship fares. Actually, I've only finished this series a few months ago. And glad that I finished it. How they ended the story is very good in my opinion.

agrifolia has started the translation of the Gosick light novel series, and will be proceeding through the novels chronologically, starting from GosickS Volume I. The volume is almost complete, by the way.

Anyone know what the book vs anime comparison looks like?
The show was rather weak (for lack of a better word, and by that I most certainly don't mean poor) for the most part, while at the same time very well done. I didn't like how loosely one arc flowed into another, even though all of them were very intelligently, and well tied together.I just feel that as well tied together the show was, I would have much rather it have been one mystery story, or one adventure instead of constantly returning to the academy; I feel like especially when you consider the scale of the final arc, as well as the weight of the characters, it seems like the author could have easily pulled it off. Particularly Spoiler for :
but alas, we can't get everything. All in all, one of the better shows I've seen in a long time; well thought out mysteries, and pretty damn good characters, although they only really shine towards the end of the story. |
