Poor Liz and Silica trying to compete a lost cause.

What a great way to end the series, I did not expected what was revealed at the end.

Epic Finale. definitely one of the best final episode out there.

OP1 for the ending is also very fitting. along with random screen capture

anyway now S1 is finished cannot wait for S2

That was a somewhat better finish than I expected (but then again, pretty much anything would have been better than that travesty of the previous episode).

Sugou made an unwelcome appearance but I'm actually glad that this more down to earth desperate struggle was their final exchange rather than the horrendous one we had previously. What's more is that they gave enough focus on Kirito and Asuna's recovery into the real world with a nice sentimental get together of the other SAO players and the heartwarming decision to give The Seed away to the wider world so that more people across the globe would be connected like never before.

But SAO still ended on a couple of flaws. I still can't get over how ridiculously desolate that hospital can be sometimes and I'm amazed that with all the screaming and shouting they did, nobody managed to hear them or call the police. The fact that VRMMO's received bad press was a welcome effort to show the effects these events had on the wider world but now it just makes things even more ridiculous at how this didn't happen before with the SAO incident. And I would have really liked it if the sentimental get together also included respectfully remembering the people who didn't survive. Maybe it's because I thought episode 3 was of the best episodes of the series but it was not nice seeing Sachi shafted so badly.

So is Asuna's ALO hair light blue now? or still light blonde?

I like how Kazuto force Asuna to call him Kazuto instead "Kirito" yet still call Klein "Klein" instead his real name (Tsuboi Ryoutarou).

Hypocrite much

I was rather disappointed with the ending... though maybe that's because they gave no hint at a 2nd season starting anytime soon....

Is it really over (OVER) now? :/
F**k this makes me so damn sad it's ridiculous...

In the middle of the night some bleeding teenager walks into a hospital and no nurses/guards on duty? I seriously worry about the safety of the patients.

So Asuna wakes up after two years in SAO, but why does she look so damn healthy?
Even Kirito looked quite malnourished when he woke up, unless the treatment given for VIP rooms is different compared to normal patients?

After saving Asuna, Kirito finally reunites with his beloved Sandwich-kun, all his hard work finally paid off.

Edit:

Kirito and Asuna are still students attending the school, and I doubt the government forbids calling each other by their SAO names in their private life. Silica called Liz by her SAO name, then changed to her real name, hence it is more of a school rule than some unwritten law.

This show has had it's ups and downs, but I figure this finale episode was one of the ups. A nice reunion of all the named characters was a nice choice (I was especially glad to see Klein again) and giving a little insight towards Kirito and Asuna's now blossoming relationship in the real world. That short confrontation with Sugou at the beginning was kinda iffy, but I guess it's better than the bullshit we got last week.

Also I guess there was a bit of an explanation for Kayaba's "ghost" from last episode here, didn't cover all the questions but at least it explained why it was even there in the first place. The final part with Aincrad being implemented into ALO was a pretty satisfactory way to close everything out. Going back to the beginning of it all.~

So overall what did I think of Sword Art Online? Weeeeeeell...it was okay. I've said this before but I've never really liked the MMO virtual realism contradictory aspect of the whole series and the writing and characters could be pretty bad at times leaving me not giving a crap, but on the good side there were some very cool action scenes here and there, the romance was handled better than most anime do and when it came to actually playing in a video game world I was quite invested. There's no way in hell I'd call this show a favorite of mine and I still prefer .hack way more than this, so I'm not really going to miss it, but it's an alright series. If there's a second season I'll probably watch it and hopefully it'll be better than this one was.

Two years of wearing the NerveGear, and she has no helmet hair. It's a miracle!

I dont think there is rule about calling your display name IRL. it just manner really

It just I found it ironic since Kazuto told Asuno to not do it, yet he do it casually with others

I concur the ending had a much better satisfacting feeling than I expected, and it does indeed give a sense of closure after the SAO incident, although I'm sort of skeptical to the necessity of ALO arc as a whole for this conclusion to work.

Good to see there are some points that involve real life, such as the special classes, and the "backlash" for VRMMORPG and the likes.
Likewise, having the whole cast back give a cohension in there, although the minimal interactions of the whole group back in SAO make the reunion not as touching as it could be.
That indicates an issue of the series a whole instead of that episode alone: the series could expand characters and all a bit more back in SAO, but we got some unbalanced narration back then (thus reflecting the retroactive attempt of the author to flesh out the first arc).

Seriously, if this series did not take itself so seriously and was more of a comedy, this series would be a Harem

Yes and no... on the one hand the SAO incident was a huge event that should have caused a lot of fear in the nerve connected VR technology for recreational use that would lead a lot of companies distancing themselves from that choice of game interaction. However, it could be defended IF there was already many games like SAO already out using that same tech... if the VRMMO genre was already huge with tons of games, one terrible incident would cause bad press for the genre but not kill it; but a second similar incident right after that one however, would cause a lot of damage... though we never really hear of any other games in the genre

^ I thought something in the first episode was said about SAO being one of the first if not the first of it's type? But it would have been nice if there was at least some negative press shown about VMMOs even if it doesn't completely kill it. In fact I never said it would have to be killed. The recent school shootings in America have caused an uproar about gun controls despite gun ownership being a fundamental second amendment. I would expect a similar if not bigger uproar in this case.

Asuna was also pretty damn hypocritical. She chides Kirito for holding her hand because people in the cafeteria might be watching but then rests her head of his shoulder a minute later...

Ended extactly where I expected and thank fully it's not a original anime ending which means a second season is likely

I give it a 9/10 would have been a 10/10 but they did leave a few minor things out.

What a satisfying last episode! It is a wonderful end to a wonderful series, although the first arc of the series was better, imo, than the second arc.

It is interesting how each arc ends with a hook for the next arc. I'm sure that the next SAO series is just a matter of time.

It's Argo, the info broker Kirito talked to in episode 3.

Anime didn't give her much screentime :/

She's Argo the Rat. I don't recall her being blond, but she did show up in episode 3, right before Kirito ran off to fight that Santa-like boss.

She's the nameless information broker, or the beta tester. Someone in early episode blames her as the cheater. In early episode, she had the flesh contact with Kritio. Kirito says her walkthrough has some mistake.

At the end, Kirito turns out to be the biggest cheater, in the game and relationship. It took him two years to beat SAO. It took him tow days beat ALO. It's why he resigns from GM's role. In the world of Kayaba, the GM's role is the game's last boss.
