So-so... There were so many flashbacks that the overall story didn't move at all... (-__-)
Star-cheek's flashback was actually okay, but the Club President's... Rolled my eyes when the second flashback came.

Still... Only decent episode.
The 2nd half of the episode was the part that saved the episode, being a lot more entertaining.
The rather hilarious flashback of that ojou-sama pulling out handcuffs (err... What kind of play is this?) and handing it to Star-cheek.
The death of that Penguin.
The dramatic music and overly dramatic scenes.
etc.

Rather than that (-_-) face girl, I wished the red-hair got more time... She just gets taunted by the Club President for being weak in the head.

Saki... gets one line. Get up, protagonist!

What is with Star-cheek's outfit in that flashback... Don't tell me?! Exhibiti-... *cough* *cough* Nevermind, nevermind...

I knew it from the start, but the more uniquely designed a character has, the more likely they are to be a standout player in some fashion. Something about Hajime's design tickles my fancy, and whatever is in the range of the fancy. The tattoos, the chains, the little ponytail hairstyle. She looks both rebellious and elegant, which is a nice mix.

Also, Touka continues to provide the best reaction shots in the show.

Nice touch to have Hajime's "magic" at work. This was not in the manga. Akagi reference?

Also, that ice-cold joke by the Prez, pissing off dear Achakura Ryoko. Her toss and catch was quite impressive too.

This episode should be named "Etopen" instead.

P.S: Haramura Nonoka? Deliberate or a mistake by Kaorin?

In all of episode 11, there's one thing that kind of annoyed me. "Sleigh of hand" is too long of a translation for a single word. I think the word "trick", or at least "hand trick" would have been better, even if "sleigh of hand" is more literal. Other then that.....damn, Hajime's outfit in the flashback was.......DAMN...

But that's the name for that kind of magic trick. It's "sleight of hand magic" and "sleight of hand" tricks.

President! Woo! Complete with glowing blue flame hand! Loved the tile toss too. Not quite sure why Mihoko is sad for the tile there or why it's bad table manners... I guess Hisa did throw it a bit hard.

Touka's reactions are hilarious, esp. her dead face when Ryuumonbuchi was in last place.

Also, does Fujita-pro never stop eating katsudon or something? How hungry can she be? She must have gone through 10 bowls by now... :P

Was great to see both Hisa and Handcuff Girl's comebacks. I guess it's basically a nice way to show off Kiyosumi and Ryuumonbuchi's strength while putting the game back onto a clean slate. Really does just show that Mihoko needs to play last and trust that her team mates won't let her down. Heh. After she spec. plays against Jun to counter her in response to last year... and now she doesn't get to counter Hisa and later, Koromo.

Some interesting parts of the episode:
- Handcuff girl's thought that Hisa's power is similar to Koromo's. Hrmmm?
- Hisa must have excellent handles on her opponents' style of play and strength. Her reaction to Handcuff girl is "here it comes" and she's not surprised with Ryuumonbuchi moves up.
- I really think Hisa has no idea who Mihoko is and what she means to Mihoko. She doesn't seem to recognize Mihoko when Mihoko was playing. I mean, if Mihoko can recognize her by sight and comment on her, then you'd think Hisa would say something as well when she saw Mihoko. Plus, at the end of the episode, she looks surprised and blank when Mihoko calls her Ueno-san.

I have to agree, its just way too long and sticks out like a sore thumb

Oh, and that brain joke at the end sounded off. I don't think "snapped" was the right word there, since "brain snap" makes no sense. Should have been more like

I wouldn't have minded 'sleight of hand' since that's exactly what it was. I see so many respected fansubbing groups do it, it's second nature.

Either way, that was still a very solid sub effort. I just wish the visual quality is better (the raw) but that's about it.

But that's farther from the original pun.

In Japanese, "atama ga kuru" means "to get angry".

So does "to snap" (almost). By using "snap" I managed to keep the meaning about 80% the same as the Japanese AND maintain the pun.
If there is a way to maintain the original meaning of a joke pun and still have it be reasonably clear, I will, even if it's slightly awkward.

To be honest, I kind of agree. But something short like "trick" would end up with bad connotations. When choosing between accuracy and flow, accuracy usually wins with me. If this were a poker game, "card trick" would work, but unfortunately there's no such thing as a "tile trick".

Woudn't "hand trick" work? And about that brain joke, I didn't mean it was badly translated, it's just that it doesn't work so well in English, since nobody ever uses "brain snap". Maybe back/headache would have worked better?

Weak back-->backache
Weak head-->headache.

Well, translating puns had ALWAYS been a pain in the ass.
