Pray tell, but #4 is actually the normal Diamond Crevasse with Megumi singing her normal voice (not the high pitch one in 50/50 DC)? Sweet!
No BGM in this soundtrack seems to be fairly lame with the rehashes. But any could be forgiven with May'n's Sheryl's Aimo and Maaya's Aimo. Too bad Ranka's version was remixed a lot that I already feel bored with that version. But for the Nyan-Nyan Service Medley... Is it another version? It's not "What kind of Service" Subtitle anymore... And Tsuchiro, you forgot to include the 50/50 in Diamond Crevasse in Disc 2 #3

Oh, it will sell, alright. If only for Brother Spaceship and Sheryl's and Maaya's versions of Aimo - and even more if the other songs are remixed (at least the Nyan Nyan Service Medley seems to fit the bill, with the new subtitle).
But, honestly, there are waaaaay too many versions of Aimo throughout the series, no? Talk about milking something...

Aimo is pretty much a Voices for the new Macross generation.

Oh well Ranka's Aimo always sounds the same except maybe for Aimo OC anyway
The two CDs have total 32 songs but 21 of them starred Megumi They really should change the name of OST3 to Nakajima Megumi and friends What's worse, only 6 of those 21 songs are her original songs (13 if including Aimo) She is indeed the queen of cover |

But I strongly disagree with this one. Aimo, for me, has none of the pathos of the now familiar Voices (which even had a killer rendition in english, as well), even if I enjoy it in moderate helpings - sorry, the series has saturated my taste for the song, it was just repeated way too often. If I had to choose a contestant for this honorific, in terms of quality and expected longevity, my money would be on Diamond Crevasse. Not just because I'm a Sheryl fan, but because it is a better song, structurally and melodically. IMHO, of course.

Yeah, Diamond Crevasse is certainly up there, but my first impression of it is greatly affected by how it gets presented at the end of... what? Episode 7? I'm referring to the scene when the lights go out on the stage and the spotlight is on Sheryl. That's quite the special moment for the song.
As for Aimo OC, I only really like it during that scene when Ranka gets on the back seat and starts to sing while she's in the middle of the battle itself. The high of the song for me is it reaches the part where she goes, "Susume Frontier!" as fighters and Vajra battle on. I'm afraid I can't remember the episode number of this one.. But in the end, for me Diamond Crevasse is the song that encapsulates the series for me in the same the way Voices has for Macross Plus. Ironically, the uniqueness of Aimo amidst all the other songs comes across as an anomaly that I'm ambiguously drawn to, that I tend to associate it with the Vajra more than anything else. Personally, it's as if the mood of the song is too mystical-ish or something. I don't even know which language it uses, if it's even an actual language at all. But yes, Voices is still that song to beat in its respective category... at least for me anyway. |

He missed a set of chords at the end. Eb F Ab F Eb F Ab becomes Eb F Ab (2x). (The latter is what he played, the former is what I heard from the original piece sung by Ranka-chan.)
And darn someone is faster than me to this. For some people who say that the left hand is a little bland, I think it is because the song is too simple. And it should be simple for a loli like Ranka. Man this guy is really good! Wish I could do as as well. I suck at playing music. P.S Regarding OST 3, I think that Ai Oboete Imasuka should have a vivace version, as heard in the Nyan Tora Service Medley. I like the rhythm, it is cute as Seikan Hikou. As for Aimo, I think nothing beats O.C, unless they are willing to hire a full concert band to play it (which would sound very nice). And probably we would have Infinity with Ranka and Sheryl. |

It truly is an epic piece. It's my favorite at the moment, though we'll see if that changes once the third soundtrack has had a good listening to.

To me, the important role Voices plays in Macross Plus is the same to Aimo in Macross Frontier. That's what i originally meant.
