So did Ulq chop off Ichigo's horn because it was an eye for an eye kind of thing and he just got lucky or he knew it would stop ichigo's rampage.

Here's what I want to know. Was the cero from Ichi's perfect hollowfication form just a standard cero, or an improved variation of sorts? Because if his standard cero was able to consistently over power the espada's most powerful cero variation, I can't help but imagine how powerful a cero oscurus from Ichigo's new hollow form would be.

@ the preview segment - i'd always expected to see yammy's release coloured white.

i liked that episode a lot - i didn't mind the reused animation. what the anime does well is nicely flesh out some meaning that was lost in the original manga where kubo had to finish things quickly to move onto the next thing.

Is that really the end for Ulquiorra? He was one of the best antagonist this series had to offer. If that really is the end of him, and he does not come back from some pocket dimension somewhere, then it is a little sad. He would have made a great ally...

It was Orihime. Ulquiorra had a thing for her. He was fighting to keep her, even after Aizen discarded her. Her pleas to stop had no effect on Ichigo. Ichigo had already stabbed Ishida.
Ulquiorra was going to die and accepted his defeat like a "man". Moments before that, Ulquiorra was resigned to his death. He said "DO IT". When she screamed he suddenly sprung into action

Not knowing Ichigo can control where it hits at bankai. He would have only hit Loly and Menoly. Ulquiorra couldn't even keep his eyes on Ichigo while they were fighting. He was acting as if he didn't care they were abusing her. Yet he watched them the whole time.

Because Ichigo turned on his friend and nearly killed him. Ulquiorra feared for Orihime's safety. Ichigo's rampage wouldn't have bothered him otherwise. He's not a bleeding heart type.

He didn't know that the part of Ichigo's conciousness, remained (The chapter makes it clear that a little part of him was there). Had recognized Orihime as the person he was supposed to be saving. So she was the safest one out of all of them. Because neither Ichigo or Ulquiorra would have hurt her

I think it's both. BLEACH is full of those tit-for-tat maim scenes (mainly arms), but since the cero came outta the horns, it's only natural it goes off if they're broken.

I always thought it was frustrating that Aizen gave all of his espada a caja negacion, but the only one ever to use theirs was Grimjaw...but yeah this seems to be it for Ulq.
The episode started out stale, not because it was those three fighting, but because they did pretty much everything that was expected - the carabellas included, I just saw meatshield mooks yesterday in another anime. Anywhoz, the rest of the episode was pretty nice, Ichigo got a face of unconsciousness (or ultimate satisfaction) when his mask broke, Ulq finally got a heart...oright, and Ishida got stabbed. That's what you get when you try to look cooler than the main character in his moments of glory!
Omake was ridiculous, enough to make me laugh (particularly Isshin's "DOKAAAN!" and the fact that the place exploded o_0

Because Ichigo turned on his friend and nearly killed him.

Despite getting stabbed, Ishida looks more constipated that half-bleeding to death.

Uryuu doesn't know the meaning of a double-tap, though; You need a confirmation that dead is dead, not just settle on a flesh wound alone...That's probably why Yammi is still alive...

in fact it was a minor plot point early on to avoid damaging the mask because it would just reveal the face beneath, not kill it.

actually, he did know. ichigo's "save her" mumbling and orihime's resulting freak out happened already.

well yeah, i already know whats gonna happen too, but, as we know, the anime sometimes changes some details.

then there are some people who have the details wrong compared to either version.

She couldn't undo the hole in Ichigo's chest, I think undo-ing turning to ash would be harder (though she did inexplicably healed Grimmjow's arm).

Orihime is going to have one more breakdown and pretty much reject everything that happened, then we'll get our slice of life anime that somehow turns out to be Full Metal Panic ;p
