While i agree that the story probably won't fit a movie, however you guys are very much overestimating the scale of P3's story.
Besides tartaros (which isn't even plot relevant , because technically you don't have to climb it untill the end of the game but you will be underleveld for the shadows), the story mostly consists of the "events" (i rather call them character interactions with the SEES members) prior and after the fights with the shadow and that was mosty irrelvant untill the plot actually started when

Strega was introduced and the origin of the shadows was revealed during the summer vacation. Eventhough that plot wasn't much used untill the end of the game when all of the shadows were defeated

I think you are being too concerned with relevance in the game and are forgetting the fact that the entire point of SEES when the MC joined up was to find out what was going on and at the start the goal was to explore all of Tartarus. It was only after the Full Moon events and everything started coming out into the open that the tower faded a bit in importance.

I have to agree with others who have said the game has too much required story to fit into a movie format. Even cutting out social links and "grinding" as a lot of people are putting it, the story would still be at least 10-15 hours, it did spread across almost a full year time wise.

Now I'm wondering how they did with the P4 movie. Was it rushed, did it rely too much on people having watched the series, that kind of thing.

Or was it just an hour long recap followed by 30 minutes of new content?

Heck P4 was shorter by about 5 weeks and they couldn't fit it in the 26 episode format despite cutting so much.

Let's remember some important events that should've be put in the story:

Thanatos awakening in the first part --> Some glimpse of how social links work (because it's important for sealing nyx) --> holiday at kirijo household --> shinji's death --> ikutsuki's truth and strega --> ryoji's choice --> nyx

Of course this is under impression that all arcana bosses will be dealt by less than 5 minutes screentime. They might be able to squeeze all of it, but I don't think it will make a good movie. Of course, if they retcon a couple of bits about the story (like not having to kill all 12 arcana bosses, combining some important part of events to a single event) and still lead up to a coherent plot with the game ending...well, it's good enough for me

Do you think this will have a chance to be more than one movie? Perhaps a trilogy or something?

they were doing 1 month nothing (except moping around)on january because of the impending doom of nyx and it was meant as some kind of "thinking time" before giving an answer to Ryoji and the game actually ended on 31th of january (plus that graduation day in march, but whatever) because the last 2 months weren't used unless the movie follows FES

maybe they will pull out something like Unlimited Blade Works of Fate/stay night. the Unlimited Blade Works route is longer than Fate route, yet Fate route got adapted into a TV Series while Unlimited Blade Works got adapted into a 100 min movie

I don't think the length was what they were considering when they make their decision Simply put there's a reason why the 'Fate' route is the first route.

You're still allowed to grind/do social links during this time, and that month is actually filled with minor story events where the party gains resolve, etc.

P3 would probably be easier to fit into 2 cours because yes, there ARE less individual story events than P4, but a movie...? Nah.

Indeed, but like UBW this will be aimed at people who have already played the source material.. so as long as some scenes are animated and well done than I can't really complain....
