I keep telling myself "no more mods just PLAY THE GAME" ... then I see some nifty gamechanging mod and I start over.
Played with the "warm earth climate mods" and got that out of my system. Then I found the Civil War expansion ... dammit.

I played like 60 hours again in the last month, because of that! Made a new character and tried out a traveling mage sort of character. Was putting points into Wayfarer and Illusion (SkyRe) Was a lot of fun until I had to face against dragons. Was really hard, then my HDD died with my steam library and had to buy a new HDD and haven't reinstalled it since then.

Had the best playthrough today, fighting through Forgotten Vale with a party -- my character, Serana, a couple of custom followers, and a Destruction-oriented mage. Sometimes after a skirmish some followers would fight because of friendly fire and I have to break off the squabble.
The best part was that in the couple of hours I hardly had any CTDs because I used 512x512 textures (Vanilla Resized Textures) as a measure to cut down memory consumption.

-Download Beautiful mansion mod.
-Collect a ton of beautiful follower girls and place in said mansion. -Collect a ton of ingredients, mats, and place them in lab storage. -Game cannot process all the items within said mansion. Crash instantly upon entrance. -Rage quit.

Back when my main character was still new (think level 16) I met two Bandit Chiefs and their mooks out in the field. After defeating the mooks I took down the BCs. Granted I was using a Bound Sword but taking down two rough enemies at that low level on Master Difficulty made me feel so badass. So when I saw a Bandit Marauder after that in a random dungeon I was all pffft, I got this~
...the last thing going through my character's mind was the BM's greatsword.

Never the less, it was an bad idea to keep an harem in there I had Vijla, that elf girl who is also AI modded, Hoth (guy), succubus, five other "remixed" classic hench girls, and a fortune in mats. Didn't help I dropped a quarter million gold pieces on the floor before I went. Anyway, I uninstalled the game, has too many other games to play these days.

Just bought Skyrim Legendary Edition from Steam sale.
What mods do I need first apart from Skyrim UI? I mean: 1) Graphics mod - do I need HD textures 2) Any cool reskin mods for characters 3) More immersion mods - like more people etc. Thanks!

Other than that just pick what suits you. Generally there are less issues with this game that needs fixing. Have fun, and don't put big tits on old grannies, it's disturbing. And NEVER strip clothes off dead old people, as you can't dress them again and they are hideous.

I do a lot of armor shopping. Matching armor with imported body types (I like the Dimonized UNP) can be a hobby in itself when armor makers don't always say which body type they can handle.
Some of the animation mods (improving combat, walking, idle moves) add to immersion. I guess I should list my "favorite mods". I like *some* of the Apachii hair -- much of it is just nonsense but some of the less-kempt styles don't break immersion. And I'll admit it - I hate default elves. I use some of the face improvements and an ear mod. I guess part of the game is just dinkering with mods to find the combo that suits you. Once you get done "starting as Dragonborn" there's a couple of nice mods that let you start as a regular joe (not triggering the dragonborn until you want to). This seems more onpoint to me. I'll start a thief, a merc, or a mage, run through a related quest line (mage, assassin, etc) and THEN I'll trigger the dragonborn.

Anyone tried the new hair physics mod? At the moment there's only a couple of hairs that works which is a female pony tail and two male hairs. However as other modders learn how to use the HDT Physics Extension by HydrogensaysHDT, I suspect we will eventually see a lot more hairs having physics.

Am I the only one that still hasn't used a single mod??
Meh, ignore me, just bragging. There are a few little things I would change about skyrim (the player menu is not on of them ) but it is not enough to make me bother with mods. |

Aye, another vanilla game player reporting for duty!
Saw so many WTF, lore-unfriendly mods (remember the one that turns dragons into flying Randy Savages, complete with sound effects? Or the ones that give your follower a fishnet armor that sticks out like a sore thumb in the middle of near-arctic Skyrim? Or what about the ones that give female NPCs jugs the size of bunker-buster bombs?) out there that I opted to stick to playing Skyrim "as is" (I got the game so that I could play as the Dragonborn...and not as Saber, Arthas or some other character imported from a different franchise, from the realms of high fantasy or otherwise), although I must admit that at one point I did check out the Halls of Dovahndor mod for a couple days before taking it off permanently.
