Track 6 sounds like the new stuff they mixed into the remix of Golden Slaughterer as a seperate track, was this actual track used anywhere in the series? I can't remember...

The comment of yours I quoted said anime original music, not remixed for anime. Going through the OST right now I would hardly consider tracks 13 and 15 (which are both anime original by granmusik and not remixes) of the OST horrible, in fact they are better than quite a few songs actually on the VN. The VN has amazing music.. but it also has quite a few duds imo.

Same here. 6 and 9 are quite good too (if they are remixes, it was really a BIG remix ).

Some of the remixed songs sound really good with the new/replayed instruments, this is a pretty damn good ost if you can separate it from the VN score. I never liked Mortal Stampede on the VN.. but it has more "oommph" now even though it's basically the same. (or is this the mastering of a professional cd compared to a doujin one?) The original stuff is pretty nice as well..

I think tracks 15, 16, 17, 20, 24, 26 and 27 are the best anime original tracks.

I really, really love the Requiem remix. It's one of my favorite songs ever.

The dreamenddischarger remix is good too. The only remix I didn't really like was Mortal Stampede.

You know, it's a damn shame some of there original tracks were never used to their full length in the anime like track 22.

Overall rating - pretty good. dreamenddischarger is actually a nice remix, but my opinion that moon is the best-remixed track stands (requiem's pretty good too I guess).

Original songs range from bland and generic (every OST's got them, I guess) to pretty darned good. Nothing outright bad...well, maybe track 4. It's just way too cheesy for my tastes and I hated it the first time I heard it in the anime . Remixes range from choppy and thrown-together to amazing.

If I had to point out any kind of overarching problem, I'd have to say that it's unfitting or badly balanced instrumentation, especially in some of the remixes. Well, bad is a little harsh, and it's nothing awful - it's just that some of the choices of instruments kind of irked me once in a while. Wasn't a problem in all tracks, but in most of the ones I disliked it was an issue.

As far as the remixes go;

-Dreamenddischarger has grown on me.
-Miragecoordinator... lacks the punch that the original did, but it still sounds good.
-Happiness of Marionette... I like the instruments used, but not the sound they created together. The little chimes are nice though.
-Answer is fine by me.
-I like Mortal Stampede better than I do in the visual novel.
-I love Fake Red Shoes, but the original is slightly better.
-Requiem and Moon both sound good.

My favorite anime original track is track number 17, but 22 is also good.

Track by Track Review:
Love it - Amazing track
Like it - Good track
Ambivalent - Unsure
Bad - It's bad (imo)

Spoiler for In here:

Track 1 (anime original): Reminds me of something from FMA for some reason. Still very haunting, especially the singing chorus. Like it.
Track 2 (anime original): A mansion theme. It has a very calming aura, similar to Novelette and the other mansion themes. I can imagine this being used in a town setting very easily as well. Like it.
Track 3 (599 million ruins remix): Not bad at all - it played in the EP 5 preview as well if I recall correctly. Although the entire mysterious aura is also pleasant addition to it I feel like it detracts from the simplistic nature of the song in itself. Ambivalent
Track 4 (anime original): The theme used commonly for Kinzo's study. Nice haunting aura in it. Yet it feels almost lacking to an extent. Ambivalent.
Track 5 (anime original): Very -45 and zts sounding (which it should since they composed it) and it's definietly a good suspense track. Like it.
Track 6 (golden slaughter remix): Wow they really remixed this track. It sounds a lot more like a weird techno beat now, even more so than before. The addition of a chorus sounds cool, but even then it just sounds too weird. Bad.
Track 7 (ｻｿﾘのﾊﾗﾜﾀ remix): Not sure if this is even a remix - it sounds pretty much like the original. Like it.
Track 8 (requiem remix): May be the only track I like more than the original. Much softer and flows better in my ears. Love it.
Track 9 (anime original): A sad track. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's very...repetitive in it's melody alright Ambivalent.
Track 10 (anime original): Similar composition and melody to Track 9. But I do like it. It gives me a feeling similar to TekuTeku and Fortitude, just not as overwhelming. Like it.
Track 11 (anime original): Again another similar melody to Track 10 and 9. This one...it's definietly soft sounding, but I have to say I liked 10 a little better. This one is just a bit more underwhelming. Ambivalent.
Track 12 (moon remix): Wow what did they do to moon. It sounds...a lot more happier in melody than the original for sure. It doesn't start off as melancholic and I can't say I like what they did with it. One of the more heavily remixed for sure. Bad.
Track 13 (anime original): ...Meh. It just doesn't capture me. It's not a bad song, but just not really amazing or gripping in sound. Ambivalent.
Track 14 (..remix? I could swore I heard it before..): Not too bad. It has a nice feel to it. Reminds me of ageha with it's outstretched tunes. Like it.
Track 15 (anime original): One of the few mansion tracks I like from the anime. Very haunting and foreboding. Love it.
Track 16 (anime original): Another witch like track. It has a nice suspense to it, accompanied by pauses in the music. Like it.
Track 17 (anime original): Familiar track again. Has a very playful aura to it - I can honestly see something like this being played in the VN too. Like it.
Track 18 (anime original): Another melodic track. There are a few of these and this isn't the best out of them, but it's not horrendous. Ambivalent.
Track 19 (anime original): Reminds me of the typical parlor music you would hear around Beato. Generally nice. Like it.
Track 20 (anime original): Is it me or when you get 20 tracks in you feel that a lot of the witching music or mystery type music tends to sound really similar to each other. It's kinda aggravating and this isn't one of my favorites from that group. Bad.
Track 21 (anime original): Ahh another soft track. It reminds me of a lullaby, similar to ひだまり. Love it.
Track 22 (anime original?): One of the scary mystery tracks. The chorus sounds lovely in this. Like it.
Track 23 (あかいくつ偽 [Fake Red Shoes] remix): An amazing track and you can tell a more techno beat was added into it. However, unlike golden slaughter's remix, it wasn't horribly overdone. Liked it.
Track 24 (anime original): Oh wow what stupendous music. It sounds like some kind of military chorus - like a war is beginning. Love it.
Track 25 (mortal stampede remix): Oh god why weren't you used in the anime mortal stampede remix you are the best remix ever ;__; DEEEEEEENNNNNNNNN!!! Love it. Dammit DEEN why aren't you putting in good remixes rather than your generic original fight music </333 This would have been perfect for Jessica and George's mini-sized fight scenes.
Track 26 (victimia propiciatoria remix): Not sure if it's victima remix but it had the spanish flare from the original. Again why was music like this not used. Although I prefer the original this wasn't terrible either. Like it.
Track 27 (anime original): Reminds me a lot of Revolt in a way that it sounds like escape music. Too bad DEEN took out that entire escape scene otherwise this would have been a good track to put in. Like it.
Track 28 (miragecordinator remix): A much shorter track than the original (which was like a little over 7 minutes long) but still good nonetheless. It wasn't remixed too horribly and would have been good music to use more often. The scene where Battler was denied out of existence in episode 24 for example, since miragecoordinator does play in that scene. It would have also been good in the scenes of Lambda they butchered. Like it.
Track 29 (dreamdischarger remix): Huzzah they're actually keeping this song for...well the spoilerish scene. But wow did they remix it heavily. Guitar rifts is the first obvious thing. Yet it keeps true to the original in rhythm and beat. Love it.
Track 30 (happiness of the marionette remix): A lot more orchestral than the original but wow does it sound beautiful. Another remix I think I like more than the original. Love it.
Track 31 (answer remix): Similar to HoM it's more orchestral than the original. Not as powerful as the original, especially in the main bit were it becomes louder, but not a bad remix. Like it.

Overall:

Love it: 7
Liked it: 15
Ambivalent: 6
Bad: 3

Generally the OST isn't half bad. Would I replay most of the songs or keep them on my playlist for instant access? A few but it would be a select few.

I'd just like to point out that some of the ones you called remixes are not. The back cover of the ost has a footnote listing the arranged game bgm. They are tracks 7-8, 12, 23, 25 and 28-31. This makes it a total of 9 game bgm in this ost, with another 15 or so ones missing. Maybe even more.

Hmm but I do notice I listed others. Track 3 does remind me of ruins so I guess that's my mistake and I did say I wasn't sure about #26 being a remix or not.

But how is 6 not a remix of golden slaughter :U?

Track 6 certainly reminded me of goldenslaughterer at some parts but I think this track merely borrowed some similar tunes from it. The anime has played its own brief version of GS and track 6 has very little similarity to GS parts that were played in the anime. Either way it is not lsited as a game track on the ost so I'll take their word for it.

Damn, is anyone else annoyed by Answer? From the little bit of it that was used in the anime (because DEEN sucked too much to include the whole song or ever use it again after its first time), I was expecting a really cool arrangement adding strings to build an even more epic feel. But for some reason, at the fast part I was looking forward to hearing, it changes into something completely different that barely sounds like the original. It's still a good track, but it was a missed opportunity to do something awesome.

I think it's obvious that this OST has way too much anime original music and not enough VN remixes... Hopefully they fix it with the second OST.

If they ever decide to do a second ost (which I'm fearing they may not), it would almost most likely be almost all game tracks. At this point I'm quite sure this one already covered all the original tracks save for a vocalless version of the first track.

Hmm you still have World End Remix, Golden Slaughterer Remix and the Hope/Far Remix used in the Rosa and Beato flashback and this is just off the top of the head.

Anyone else who belives that they put some of the best VN music (Dreamenddischarger, Miragecordinator...) on the first OST so that they could sell of the anime orginal tracks.

Probably, but the anime versions of those tunes are a lot worse...

(At least they're still okay, since they were top-notch before.)

I like the goldenslaughterer remix(?) more than the original, but then, I didn't actually like the original at all.
