Spoiler for My opinion after reading DxD:

Hs dxd events don't have any connection with each others. Reading it like watching "super man" or "batman" series: villains show up, beat them, done (+ bonus molest scenes), move to the next episode.
=>You read one arc, it won't courage you read the next arc since it's irrelevant.

"HS dxd" tries to contain all the genre but fails at every single genre.
It's not a light, relax, daily-life manga to read like "to love-ru", "Aria" or interesting, unpredictable plot development like "Yureka", "the record of a fallen vampire", "TWGOK",...

Power development isn't near as interesting as Naruto or Ichigo. (even though they are the same type : suddenly power-up for granted.)

Same goes for the battle.

The romance and ecchi aspect is irritate to read.
1st, he is as dense as any other "harem" lead character.
2nd,He is a pure pervert and stupid who is unable to think anything beside his d*ck, even before important battle BUT never has gut to do what he wants. Typical "barking dog never bite".
3rd,i first mistake he is very brave to confess his dream even-though knowing the consequences. But turn out he is too stupid to think which consequences he will have if he does everything he did. => mindless brute.
=>the irritation of his stupidity overshadows the joy from reading the romance developments and chick-fights.

My English is bad so i can convey it to you, but long story short, the author is bad at writing the story.The author abuses too much "deus ex machina" (google it, example: Ichigo's frequently sudden power-up). When i read a story and the phases " the author does this", "the author did that" always come to my mind, the story is utter garbage.

I drop the LN after i read vol3 since the MC sucks and disappoints me. I first hope he is the same as MC from "trinity seven" but turn out he is worse than typical harem male lead. This LN teach me one value lesson: acting pervert doesn't equal to being awesome.

Don't mind arekwibowo, ragez2010. Its someone's opinion. Doesn't really affect other people's enjoyment of the series. There is bound to be one person or few who dislike it out of many.

Well, I myself both like and dislike HSDxD.
Like it for the good art. Dislike it for (everything arekwibowo laid bare above).
Lately, what's been attracting my attention is Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei
If you're familiar with the title Mirai Nikki, then just replace the male lead with someone badass.
I've, for one, stopped reading most underdog-male-lead stories.
Especially for ones where they typically gain power and courage on a whim.
It's just so. . .plain, to say they got the power they wanted because they deserved it.
" I have people I want to protect, so give me power. "
Personally, I hate that kind of development. . .
So you see, for me, it's either they are badass from the point the story started ( all that power training left behind for the flash back events ), or badass power for badass motives.

All in all, suddenly gaining power because you have someone to protect is an old idea --
Yes, it is attractive when you connect the male lead to yourself to the point where :
" This might happen to me, if I keep myself right, maybe I'll get the chance to protect a lovely girl with a new-found power that will be granted to me ( or has been inside me all along ). "
But just having and wanting to protect some people doesn't make people deserve sudden power-up.
You want to protect someone, you gotta train yourself. Mahouka gave me that. And I'm happy with it.
I've practiced what I said by training karate. I don't need a dragon's power to rescue a girl attacked on the streets now. ( is not a reference to any LNs )
So you see, reality is actually cooler than fiction for me.
And LN which also complement a taste of reality are what I call good LNs.
It's not like you have to live in Japan to get a taste of what it's like to train your body.
I suggest you Mahouka, read that for a badass protagonist.
Check Tsuki Tsuki, Kikou shoujo wa kizutsukanai, and Gekka no Utahime no Magi to see what it's like to train by one's self to raise to power.
And note that not all of them are action related. But all of these are sure to have protagonists I like. ( 'Scuse me for some full-ecchi ones and full-comedy ones )
They don't gain power by doing nothing/hoping to protect someone.
If they can, they train. If they can't, they stay to their part as moral support.

I don't dislike this series, i simply criticized it, not bashing nor flaming, right? If you people still don't understand, i suggest you to come over to some anime threads (particularly sao and psycho pass) to see how things work in this forum. If you claim someone as a troll, then you should counter their opinions and prove yourself that you reserve the right to call him "troll", instead of simply getting angry or throwing tanthrum like a little child.

Do you think xenovia's character is undeveloped a little? I mean she is like a female issei if his pervertness is replaced with a want for strong offspring, yet without any trauma or any event worth mentioning. Unless I missed something important, she is a straight forward chock that tried to rape issei twice that has the same battle strategy as issei.

Please no flames, I love every character, I just don't praise them unless I have something to comment on, also issei probably would have liked being suduced by her

Yeah, she hasn't had much development yet. Most of her character comes from her being an idiot (condom-in-classroom-event) and her love for both Issei and Asia.

Read this a few months ago....have to admit is not my taste. Too many women, and plot felt churned out. Not to mention MC is definitely has too many character flaws. Is it funny? Yes, but there is only so many oppai like humor before you think the MC has a problem.

I actually like the MC he's a bit of a pervert but thats about his only flaw, he's definitely better than most harem leads who tend to be complete weaklings and scared of the girls around them.

It's her frist cover, Volume 10 had a extra but it wasn't the main cover.

Only Rias and Akeno have had more than 1 solo cover.
