All the audio extracting tools ive found on the web are for mpeg or avi. Anyone got one for mkv?

mkvextract which is part of mkvtoolnix will do it. Just google for it and mkvextract gui.

If you know how to use VirtualDubMod, you could also use that (just to make it easier on yourself - and possibly quicker, if you work with vdub a lot). If you're not, then go ahead and use mkvtoolnix.

Thanks! Took some work but figured it out. I just wanted to make the "back from commercial"/"going to commercial" chimey sound from Full Metal Panic! as my text message sound for my cellphone.
(E.X. -> Full Metal Panic season 1 ep 3, 11:00 to 11:04 or so into the show.)
