Death Note anime

For further discussion, please use one of the other threads, thanks.
Death Note (TV series)
Death Note live-action movie
End of edit by Mod (xris)
---

Issue 24 of Shonen Jump apparently states that Death Note will be adapted into an anime. Additionally, a tribute album will be coming in June, along with a video game in the winter. The anime series will probably air in the fall.

This information has been corroborated by Anime News Service (although their site is down at the moment) as well as a variety of other sources around the web and even 2ch posters, so I think it's pretty trustworthy. I'm also overjoyed at the notion of seeing L animated.

Nope, it states an anime by Nippon TV. It's a pretty big deal on the DN communities.

. . . My life is not complete.

Really, if this is done properly, it's going to be incredible! I can't wait to see it!

I have this pipe dream that it'll be done by KyoAni (who famously inserted a Death Note cameo scene into FMP! TSR).

The chances of that actually happening....? Absolutely nil.

I'm a little concerned. I mean, the anime will probably only be blablabla = With crappier animation. The manga has so much thinking and actually not too much action. The anime will might be boring compaired to the manga.

People keep saying this, and I just laugh and shake my head whenever I see it. To learn how a talky, action-less anime could be addictive and exciting, one need only look back to another Obata series--Hikaru no Go. HikaGo managed to be absolutely thrilling, and it doesn't even deal with issues of life and death... the worst that can happen is that someone loses a board game! So really, I'm not at all worried about that aspect of the DN adaptation.

Also... "with crappier animation" than what?

Ah, sorry. I should have said what I really meant.
Mangas usually have a lot more detailed and well-done art. When they are adapted to animes the art usually won't get so pretty. (I'm not saying the Death Note anime will have especially crappy art. (Possibly one of the most high-budged because of it's popularity) just it won't be as good as the manga. )

But I'm looking forward to the anime anyway. Don't misunderstand me.

Oh, I understand what you mean now. But in the future, it'd be best not to use "animation" and "art" interchangeably. It confuses people.

They should let Production IG's team for Stand Alone Complex to take care of the animation. The realistic character animation used for dialogue fits more than perfectly Death Note in both mood and design.

This is good news! I think the anime could end up being pretty damn intense.

Oh and yeah - can someone tell me, without spoilers, whether the manga ended in Chapter 107 or not?

This is great news. It means that we will worry less about fillers because the story is already complete.

Yeah, i think the anime will become great because the manga is now ended. ( T_T ) It probably won't end up like hikaru no go; ending too soon, or like naruto; way too many fillers. But well, that is if they actually follow the plot of the manga exactly. I hope they do so, like with hikaru no go, because we want to see a death note anime, not the same characters with a different story. ^^;

wahh moving L~~ ahh can't wait for the first ep~ i hope the autum comes soon!
