And so I was reminded just how well drawn Nashizawa is here compared to the anime.

Though from what I've seen the movie wasn't too shaby in that department either.

Has Ayumu...filled out? I never really noticed her breasts before. If she's gained 3 kg, lol, maybe some of it went there.

An Ayumu-service chapter all around. Her competition is tough, but it really is good to see that she's still willing to step up. Nice chapter.

I think so. I'm sure she wasn't this stuffed. All the same, since her skirt didn't fit, I suppose she did gain some fat - though, if they went to the right places, I'd say that'd be something to rejoice for. But well, it'd seem the Japanese idea of beauty the same as the one of the people at Cosmo magazine.

HnG became just so ordinary and stale. Who actually prefers this over the awesome drama that we had last year!?

I read the latest entries in Hata's web diary (No. 368-370) and he says what he really wants to draw right now are simple little slice-of-life chapters like these, so I get the feeling nothing going to change any time soon. He's probably regretting introducing Athena and taking the manga down a dramatic route, because fans just won't shut up about it now.

The Athena arc? The earlier chapter might be lighter and not as dramatic as that one, but pretty sure they were never as dull as the current story. They may look slice-of-life, but there's always something over-the-top that made me laughed out loud. I don't feel that sensation anymore.

The current arc is not "returning to its roots," it's "running out of steam."

Or maybe it's because everyone has just gotten used to Hata's style after 300+ years and his style of humor that it's getting old. I personally thought the chapter where Nagi impersonated Okabe Rintarou was hilarious, but I was in the minority apparently.

I agree that I'd like to know what Mikado is scheming and for Athena to regain her womanly body again, but I really think if Hata did a genre shift with the End of the World arc and stayed serious throughout, the series would be nothing more than a generic shounen battle manga.

This. I used to enjoy reading the chapters for their comedy and character development. There doesn't really appear to be either anymore. Now it's just "random girls doing random things". Rather than playing up a character's strengths, he's only showing their faults to attain some level of comedy. There's little in the way of puns on other series, seemingly just relying on the "in story" manga from Nagi and Luka.

A lot of people liked that, but it was about one panel out of an entire chapter. Remember Santa Conan? That was an entire chapter's worth of punning, which actually ended up carrying over a little bit to another chapter or two for extended punchlines.

I think this is the real problem. After almost 350 chapters we "get" what he's trying to say even before he says it. Now every chapter is like "We get it, we get it!" "B-but they're really cute!" "We get it, we get it!" "B-b-but you haven't seen how cute she is when she--" "WE GET IT, OKAY?"

No wonder some of us are running out of patience.
