Ninja scrolls prolly fits in the "others" Samurai Deeper Kyo was also pretty good, no crazy horror but lots of gore.

Its been a while but does Claymore count? I can not remember how they dealt with limb severing etc in the anime if it was shown or skipped over ...

Edit: Oh yeah Murder Princess also works its a 6 episode OVA and pretty good.

Yeah, Claymore has some gorey scenes in many episodes, though it is not overall present IMO. I will add Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatari. Though the main characters are the good guys, there is alot of violence, and horror going around. It is somewhat trippy, crazy horror, and has a special style.

Black Lagoon has plenty of gore and action. Not horror though.

Not at all crazy in terms of gore, but psychologically Perfect Blue is a great film.

The original Guyver OVA series has plenty of gore for being an early 90s production. Plus there's a good horror angle in there which you can see from reading the summary.
