Here's the trailer that showed after Darker than Black, only 15 seconds but it gives you a hint of the OP.

The second CM looks even more impressive then the first. This show is going to be brilliant.

If they handle this 10% of the way they handled Baccano, it will probably be very good already. Ikebukuro is a fun place to make an anime of, and characters already seem to be very good.

Here's to 2010 being way better than dull 2009.

Perhaps this won't be as good as Baccano, but I'll give this series a try. The animation looks good and the plot reminds me a lot of baccano.

Oh man. The ending to volume 1 got me hooked so badly that I read 2-3 in a row after that. I look even more forward to the anime now. I love love love the characters, so crazy and awesome at the same time.

I'm curious is there a romance aspect to the show or is it just mostly mystery?

The official tag line calls it: "A twisted love story" (or something along that line), take from that what you will.

How's it compare to Baccano! for you? Have you also read Vamp! btw?

I have not read Baccano, only watched the anime. I liked the Durarara novel better than Baccano anime personally.

I have Vamp! volume 1 sitting around. Have not read it though T__T (I loved Yozakura Quartet a lot, so I had to read Durarara first @__@).

You might like the Baccano novels better, for 1 it doesn't try to tell the story of 4 novels simultaneous. (though personally I think it was a stroke of genius for the anime). I haven't heard much about Vamp so I was hoping you had read it, wish Seven Sea's didn't delay their LN lineup... :\

I think it works better for Baccano anime if you read the novel first. I was just pure lost by the overwhelming number of characters (even Narita himself said Durarara doesn't have that many characters). That and Durarara's volume one is really one of best light novel intro volume I've read (badassness, romance, and mystery all came together and resolved in the end BEAUTIFULLY).

As for Vamp, it's really not on top of my reading list because there are several major long ones that just keep occupying my time (finally finished Nisemonogatari 2 for one, then there's index, regios, seitokai, baka test, 9s, ore wa imouto, katanagatari, gosick, zaregoto etc. etc. ... I even gave up on Shana already).

He's not a very good writer, though.

I can't comment on that since I only read one of his work really, but I personally thought story's really good.

Story, setting, characters are all excellent, but his prose is second rate. Don't get me wrong here, I loved Durarara (v1-2). Should be magnificent animated and with that cast.
